Appreciate your feedback Alex, I did state in the first 5 mins of Episode 1 that we weren’t going to be following the whole NC500 route. You’re right though, we set out just to do the NC500 and when we got down to planning, being Scottish and knowing the roads, decided to tweak it!

Just a quick warning the police can use your own video as evidence for your speeding in 20mph zones, your speedo showed you were doing over 50% over the limit which in some cases will mean a license loss as you did it more than once in the vid, you need to learn to edit out your speedo before they get you.

I don't use modern communication systems, neither Cardo nor Sena. The sound quality demonstrated in this video is one obvious reason albeit not the main one. Honestly I prefer to ride on a single bike with a pillion - preferable my girlfriend. It worked on our camping trip from Denmark to Monaco in 1979 on my GT550 and it has worked brilliantly since. Touching signals are nice and you both get a bit of peace on your journey. Nothing beats the overview from paper maps. The GPS is fantastic for leaving your planned route when you find something unexpected.
@scotlandontheroad

To be fair, whilst not demonstrated by the Cardo group recording feature I have used in this video to include our group chat, the actually quality from the Cardo Packtalk Edge is excellent. Both Alex and Ed had never used it and bought one based on me raving on about how good it was. Absolutely both agree it’s a fantastic bit of kit. My neighbour is the same as you though, would much rather ride with his wife in silence and much prefers a paper map! Horses for courses! 👌

I guess I was lucky visiting Scotland back in 1981 before the roads got congested. The same with the Alps in 1979 and 1984. I'm 66 now and still love motorcycle camping in Europe on my SV650. Some of the beautiful passes my girlfriend and I used back then are very crowded now and some are not. The key to happy motorcycling in my age is never to share your best routes on KZbin if you want to keep the magic of the routes and maybe return later yourself.

Enjoyable. One point on comms "The overtaking channel" - if you are advising the riders behind that the road is clear to overtake - keep transmitting regular "clear, clear, clear clear.........." until they get by or the road opens up. It caters for comms dropouts in the middle of it. other riders - tell the lead rider when you are through.

I think the only things missing from this car model is a subscription tracker and a high-end, non-factory alarm/immobiliser. I would buy another smaller set of wheels to use while I own it and keep the 20's for when it comes time to sell and clamp a wheel while it's in my garage/drive. There's a lot to be said for adding good visual deterrents, even if they only delay the inevitable 30 second key scan theft. There's even more to be said about ensuring that the owner's property is effectively secured and that the UK's exit ports are better educated and funded to prevent illegal exports, as I wouldn't fancy receiving any parts of the car back from Eastern Europe once it has been stripped to pieces in the UK and systematically exported. So apart from that, it's a good car when driven and maintained properly and the only thing which lets the car down, are the sales target hungry BMW dealerships and their awful reputations. Buy privately and service at a decent garage, as it's just a car.
