Did you ever figure out why was it overheating? it should idle at 40 like most laptops.

power limits (TDP) of the Quadro P3200 and 8850h cpu can easily overwhelm the cooler, however I have removed the fine mesh on the bottom intake vents, and now use honeywell PTM7950 for the TIM, and thermals are as good as they are gonna get, which does allow it to keep a higher clockspeed than even what I got in this video. Very happy with the current setup, and still use this laptop as my daily driver!

Love my P52 to this day, bought it from an A/V shop that was getting rid of laptops because they were getting stolen/lost. Still had almost 2 years of warranty (32GB, 2x2TB NVMe, P3200 GPU, 8850H, 4K). Getting ready to do PTM7950 because even undervolted it throttles.

Don't worry abouth the necessary of your videos, you are a first man on KZbin which told me about the overheating of this laptop, it's has a nice 4K display, sound, ports, a six - core processor from the 2017 and 128Gb of RAM, but OVERHEATING. I have a doubt to buy on eBay right now, thank you for that, because I planned to spend all my sholarships for a nice used laptop and ThinkPad probably. Have a nice day¡¡!! Hello from Ukraine¡¡!!

This is fantastic, thank you so much. Your instructions were very easy to follow. I have a P53 and it was fairly similar to disassemble (there was some extra screws or some in different places). Repasting the CPU and GPU made a significant difference in terms in average temperature. No special tools were needed except for a small and thin Philips screw driver and a few guitar picks. Kept track of the screws by taping them near their original location.

@b1n0ry3

I know! :( I should have bought two when I had the chance. I've been daily driving the Pixel for years now and love it. I've been looking for another good alternative for my use case, but really haven't found something.. although I am eyeing the Aphelia from Osprey, looks like a decent alternative, otherwise I've always been a fan of the eBags Pro Slim backpacks. They just released a new CityLink Laptop bag that looks promising, but I need a chest strap on my bags cause I bike a lot. If you need a more corporate/business oriented bag Everki makes very high quality bags (Studio being my favorite).

This is my reference video for repasting. I have followed it for P50, P51 as well. Note, if your objective is re-pasting, you actually don't need to remove the LCD panel nor remove RAM/wifi card nor remove all the cables. Just loosen the two screws behind the stickers near the each hinge, and the metal frame will come out together attached with the LCD. Of course you need to disconnect the WIFI card antenna cables, the LCD and webcam connectors from the motherboard, but no need to separate LCD or route all the cables.
@aaronjgeorge

Unsure if you'll see this comment in the next few hours, but are you saying, I just need to disconnect the cables just to be safe, before removing the frame? To expose the back?
