Mostly I’m just surprised the welder was wearing eye protection of some sort and shoes instead of sandals

It's so refreshing to see stuff like this in a throwaway Society... mechanics these days rather replace a whole engine and put a customer in debt than doing a simple fix in some cases lol

And for all that skill he earns very little. But in his country, he’s probably making enough.

Everyone likes to say oh~ restore over replace, but honestly would you actually do it? When fixing it takes 3x more time and money would you still hold onto your words? No, because buying a new one is more convenient, because you have money you have resources, you don't need to repair it, cause you can buy it, if you disagree that just means you're a hypocrite, look at yourself, don't bullshit me you fix old things and not just buying new ones.

If there ever was a war that destroyed electronics and digital tech with weapons, these men would be the most important people in the world. They'd give 1000 Elon Musk's for 1 super knowledgable engineer/craftsman.

I have no technical knowledge or idea of what that part does but it looks important. I only assume it's the bit of a motor that spins when powered by electricity? Maybe?

@puddlejumper325917 сағат бұрын
Contrary to what the "repair over use" comments would have you believe. We do this in the US. It's called recycling because the couple hours of people's time is worth more than the $50 to remanufacture a brand new one from recycled metal. Turns out that volume production is efficient and doing one at a time by hand is not.
