Fat lot of help this expo is if the many anglers in SA cannot visit it, what are they hiding from us besides exorbitant prices?

Just had a good laugh. You were picking them straight of the nest. 😂😂 But as you say still beats a good days golf 🎉🎉 my old teach Mr Hough taught me all I know about bass (Lichtenburg days) and he told me to plonk a couple of rocks in the water, then wait 5-10 min come back to the spot and the big one's will be there. I used to do that...... till one day while I was digging in the bank for some rocks. While struggling with my right hand the rod in the left-hand my lure touched the water surface and right under my feet from out of the bank a HUGE bass shot out and grabbed my lure. I had a broken back 4 inch rappala light blue lure on. That lunker jumped and breached till past the reeds............then gone😢😢. I reeled and cast several times, could not get past the reeds again. Only about 5 casts later I realised that the bass ran off with the whole tail of my lure. I never tossed rocks in the water again 😂😂😂

I really would like to get the hang of fishing with soft plastics. I find doing it from the surf is really tough. I don't get much distance with the casting and I don't feel the lure properly with the waves crashing. What weight jig head do you use of the surf for a 3 inch, 4 inch and 5 inch minnow or paddle tail?

Lionel which store do you work at ? I’m interested in coming to look at Okuma rods and I assume you have the biggest selection
@vernervanschalkwyk228026 күн бұрын
Stunning video!! I fish with 4 Shimano casting rods and 2 Sensation rods made by Okuma. Let me tell you that i enjoy the 7 foot medium heavy Sensation more than any of the Shimanos. My son fishes only spinning combos and he always takes his Okuma before any of the others he owns from 13 fishing and Shimano. Love those combos you are fishing with. You must let me know when you are fishing close to Ladysmith. I have a farmer friend where i caught a stunning 2.8kg on the 15th of this month. He has 6 dams loaded with stunning bass.

Awesome video. I studied in Durban for 6 years and we fished here a lot during the late 80's. It was stunning fishing. A pity how people litter like this. I am surprised there are any fish left. I live in Ladysmith now and do a LOT of bass fishing. Catch and release always. Tiight lines and i hope the leg gets better soon.

I used to fish there regularly 45 years ago as a kid and I cant remember anyone ever catching Kob under that bridge. It was before the 2 big islands got washed away in the 80's. We used to catch a lot of blacktail and tobies off the rocks closer to the mouth. Do you still see those there? My grandfather used to tell me that 50 years before that people used to shoot sharks from that bridge.
