I am a little suspect when you think the pistons are a bad team.
@PlinyTheWelder2 күн бұрын
Stacy to be fair the Washington pick conveys to two seconds. Those picks are probably 31 or 32. Those are good picks. You get late first talent at second round salary. Don't underestimate those picks
@PlinyTheWelder2 күн бұрын
You don't get foul shots on jumpers. The Knicks two best players go to the rim. The magic are the worst shooting team in the league and take 40 threes. Mosely is crazy on that one.

First off he's not gonna regress don't even say that and 2nd is josh hart is a role bench player who dominates in all aspects...last year JH wouldn't shoot threes wide open now he's taking the shots with more efficiency...n last but not least he's shooting 71% just on 2pointers alone n shooting 40 from 3 plus his free throws upgraded cut it out...don't try to pin good compliments with negativity
@PlayByPlayFilmBreakdown6 күн бұрын
Brother good analysis is done by analyzing IF this happens THEN this. I explicitly give a reason it might not regress and then explicitly talk about even if that happens why he's a vital piece still. Don't understand how that's negativity but go on.

@PlayByPlayFilmBreakdown there's no if during a game it's just straight reality and action...u cannot predict someone's move without them even doing it n u cannot crap on someone's defense or lack of attention to detail if he's actually the 3rd best defender on the Knicks PERIOD...so go ahead good analysis keep doing you

@@ymnfamily713 if you aren't curious about that what if situation that's totally fine, but to me it's a genuinely interesting question that has a really cool answer. As to the defensve side of the ball those are mistakes full stop. He can be a plus defender but it's very fair to say in aggregate everyone needs to clean up the mistakes if it's not an elite defense.

This is a good breakdown but it fails to consider the biggest criticism of this tactical change -- mitch gumming up the league's best offense.

@definitelydelish13 күн бұрын
so WHO out of OG, Mikal, Hart, KAT are you benching to play an oft injured Robinson? Mitch is backup center at best, love him, but he just never really has shown he can stay on the floor, stay out of foul trouble or grow his game beyond the 7 pts and 8 rebound mark of his career. He's a backup, like a Nerlens etc, that's it and there's nothing wrong with that.
@Barak14413 күн бұрын
Before blowing out the hornets yesterday the Knicks were ranked 9th in the nba on defense. And it’s been that way for a week at least. And they are rising up the defensive rankings. So before making videos it’s better to check your facts first. The Knicks are not lacking defensively they’re top10 and getting better
@tstephen7913 күн бұрын
Yes! Great breakdown. Mitch is the key to relief for Kat and improve on rim protection and offensive rebounds. But then one of the current starters will have to sit. right now based on play it would be Bridges until he gets more consistent. Him and OG will be fighting for the starting spot.

@alexfang678413 күн бұрын
Mitch won't spend much time with Kat, because Mitch, like Gobert, does not have much of an offensive game outside two feet from the basket and will only clog the center and disrupt NY's current offense.
@PlayByPlayFilmBreakdown13 күн бұрын
Even if they dont play huge minutes together think its a good lineup to have in certain situations. Also MIN was 3rd in Net Rating carried by the Defensive side but the Knicks curerent surrounding pieces are better than the twolves offensively even if Mitch is worse than Gobert defensively. Roles are similar and 3rd Net Rating lineup as a weapon to throw around aint bad.

KAT really doesn’t play center, he’s more an oversized 2 or 3.
@moff542014 күн бұрын
Mitch will come in off the bench. The bench needs a defensive center because of the lack of scoring and defense. The first wave is set. Karl and mitch on the floor at the same time is what happened in Minnesota, its a bad udea
@cuseyeti_one8three14 күн бұрын
Yeah, that’s my worry as well. I think Thibs has to hockey coach this a bit and bring in lines that are more defensively balanced when KAT units are inevitably getting abused in the paint.
@aaronmurrayvazquez14 күн бұрын
a good intro to this will be with Precious coming back weeks before Mitch. Not with the size but the depth, rotations, mins, and learning. Once we have Mitch we'll have a better understanding how best the pieces fit.
@PlayByPlayFilmBreakdown13 күн бұрын
Precious looked awesome out there in the switchable defense and ok in the short second quarter spurt with KAT. Obv not gonna be switching with Mitch but the biggest takeaway is just having lineup flexibility in what we can put out there. A huge benefit to having a deeper team (or getting healthy) is being able to throw out different lineups in different situations and I feel like we have that in spades in terms of lineup variability.

Lol at the idea at 48:00 that Bridges is psychologically unable to handle the pressure of being traded for 5 future NY Knicks picks! He was last traded for Kevin Freakin’ Durant, and happily inherited KD’s midrange shot diet. If you’ve watched his decline on defense over the last 3 years, it’s clearly a physical issue-from HS to Villanova to the NBA, he’s taken an extreme level of wear and tear for a 28 year-old…not helped at all by how invested he’s in in his reputation as an iron man. I don’t think he has an acute injury; he simply can’t move his hips or feet or knees like he used to when he was competing for DPOY. As stigmatized as “load management” has become when used/abused by guys like Kawhi, Mikal Bridges is the cautionary tale in the other direction: If you value availability above all else, get used to guys peaking in their mid-20s. (See Thibs’ Chicago Bulls.) This is doubly true for perimeter defensive specialists who rely on agility more than strength-why Boston was genius to get out of the Marcus Smart business when they did. Compare the games played and mpg of Bridges over the past 5 years with e.g. Alex Caruso-it’s like he’s played twice as many seasons. You could say that makes Caruso injury-prone, but limiting the load is also the reason Caruso is still such a good defender into his early 30s. The old Bridges isn’t coming back on defense, which is always the first thing to go. Learn to maximize the Rip Hamilton middy maestro that’s left.

Funny you bring up Immanuel Quickley, b/c he’s a reminder of the terrific track record Leon Rose has drafting late in the first round or even early in the second (McBride). Which makes it all the more remarkable that he traded 6 FRPs-plus a 2025 second likely to end up in the low-30s-for Mikal Bridges coming off a lackluster season. It’s more likely than not at least one of those FRPs ends up in the lottery. But even if Knicks don’t miss the playoffs a single time between now and 2031, the opportunity cost is scary. Just this year, Jared McCain, Dalton Knecht, Ryan Dunn went between #16 and #27 in a notoriously weak draft. These are starter-level players under team control on super-cheap deals for next 4 years, a must-have for true contenders. See also Podziemski or Jaime Jaquez last year. Knicks gave up SIX years of opportunities to hit on such draft-day steals. Not for Giannis or Embiid (both maybe available?) but a 28yo 3&D specialist who shoots 30% on 3, gets routinely dusted on D, and will expect a $30m/yr extension next summer. Make it make sense!

Thibs gets too personal with his players. Maybe Ariel said or did something that rubbed Thibs wrong, because there’s no reason why Ariel shouldn’t be playing more. History will show that he’s a better player than Sims. Ariel blocks shots and he has an offensive game!!
@bobl288726 күн бұрын
No. But he is a lot closer to LeBron than I am to him. Is he an NBA level player, I would say no. The Knicks should put him in the D league, summer league, and a mid level college team to develop a game.

Tbh bridges was an overrated defender going back to phoenix. He was never good at the point of attack and his screen navigation was sus at times. As he’s now aged his defense has declined even more and the fact that he’ has more mortgage on his body than most 28 year olds

Bro needs to play less time on the court. He's played like 40 minutes virtually every game since getting signed to the Knicks. He can get injured, just because he hasn't gotten an injury before now doesn't mean it's not possible.
