Instead of focusing on who "womens" clubs are NOT for maybe we should be focusing on who they ARE for. Senior women and non-athletes under 5'6". Obviously they aren't designed for college athletes and mocking this segment of the population isn't helpful.

I bought the Tour Edge C721 driver because of Thomas’ review. It’s a pleasure striking that driver. Long and forgiving. And the price was reasonable in comparison. Where has Thomas gone? Can we bring him back? Can he start his own channel?

Kevin fits himself into a light extra stiff shaft for his driver, but stiff for his woods and irons. A unique one for sure
@JoeKing-h4y19 сағат бұрын
@2ndswing if you look at his data, the senior and regular flex gives him more carry and overall and consistent overall numbers. The stiffer it gets less carry and too much roll out with same total distance. From a swing component, he ismore balanced and weight shift and unload points are better. While the stiffer shafts he is working too hard, while it might ne OK for about 7-12 holes. Last 3-6 holes he'll probably lose it to the left more often with that swing.

With full shots, my 48* Cleveland CBX (steel shaft 115g) goes consistently 5-10 yards longer than my 48* Callaway Ai200 (graphite shaft 75 g regular). Is this due to shaft or club head? What do you think?
@2ndswingКүн бұрын
Interesting. My first thought is that it could be spin related. The lighter graphite shaft is probably producing much higher launch and more spin, which will decrease distance. - Drew

Great video and comparison. I have a long love/hate relationship with Mizuno. My previous irons were the MP-60s that I played for YEARS. Loved them. 3 years ago (for my 70th birthday) I gave myself a fitting and a new set of clubs. My game couldn't justify the MP series anymore and I was really interested in the JPX921HMPs. (Here comes the hate part). Traditionally, Mizuno has been one of the least "lefty-friendly" brands in terms of which models were available to us lefties. The only model that was available to me at the time, that was appropriate for where my game is now, in the JPX line was the base Hot Metal. I went into the fitting with an open mind and wound up with TM Sim2 Max irons. They are OK but certainly not Mizuno. Last year, I made the "mistake" of trying the 923HMPs which WERE available to lefties and not sure (other than buying another set so soon) why they aren't in my bag. Your video is making me really want to look into the 925s as I see they ARE available to lefties. My only question for you (and Emma) is why would someone that has as much game (and distance) as Emma obviously has, be playing HMPs (regardless of generation? I would think that either something in the MP series or, if she wanted to be in the JPX series, the forged AT A MINMUM (if not the tour) would be a GREAT club for her! Thanks!
@2ndswingКүн бұрын
Thanks for your feedback and comment! Great stuff. I feel bad for the lefties out there - always much more limited when searching for clubs. In this video and other content we've filmed with Emma, she has noted that she likes the distance advantage she can get with a little hotter iron like the JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro. It gives her a little boost of confidence knowing she has a club or two (or even three) shorter than her opponents for approach shots. But, the compact shape of the Hot Metal Pro still allows her to hit fades or draws if she needs.

I think there’s a bit of bias going on here, clearly he favored the T150’s vs the apex pros. Beyond that though, unconsciously he put a much better swing together with the T150’s, just look at the face to path. A full degree more open for the apex pro’s. I just hit both last week in a fitting bay. If you’re trying to discern which one is better from this video I’d say skip it and try them both yourself. They are both ridiculously soft and have pleasant sound. Pretending that either is more forgiving is a joke. The sweet spot is the same size on both. If you can’t hit that at minimum 80% of the time, don’t get these clubs. The AI 300’s or T350’s are better for you. These clubs are built around launch characteristics, not forgiveness. That’s not to say they don’t have forgiveness built in, but they aren’t game improvement clubs by any extent. I think though, this video does in fact highlight the importance of a fitting. KZbin reviews are good for you to identify the types and models of clubs you’re looking to get into, however, Michael put a better swing together on the T150 because it suited his eye better, that might be very different for you. This category of club highlights how clubs sit and look at address. That is very perception based and individual to the player. All this to say I hit the T150’s, T100’s, all 3 variants of the Apex pro lines, Ping Blueprint S, Srixon ZX7 MK2’s, Taylormade P7CB’s, and even the PXG 0311’s (I think but really didn’t care much for them) when I was fit. ALL of the clubs were great but I wanted less offset, lower launch, and higher spin for the bottom of my bag and higher launch for the top. Also I wanted to “see” my shot before I hit it so top line and how the club sat at address was important. A combo from callaway from MB- Pro was checking all those boxes but importantly, they looked and felt like home so for me it was an easy choice. I loved the T100’s, P7CB’s, and Ping Blueprint S, but the apex line was the right fit FOR ME. Get fit, with irons there is nothing more important.
@2ndswingКүн бұрын
Thank you for watching and for the comment. You're absolutely right in that club(s) will fit players' eyes better and that often shows in performance. It did in this test. And we'll never claim to have the perfect testing method. Ultimately, trying them both in a fitting is the best way for golfers to see which is best for them. Love that you went with a combo set of the Callaway irons. Combo sets are awesome!
@bobbo85723 сағат бұрын
@@2ndswing agreed. To be transparent, I hope my message came as a positive. I didn’t want to harp on any bias, however, I wanted to highlight the importance of how being fit to a golf club that matches with your playing style and a lines better with what you’re looking for visually, will ultimately lead to a better bond between player and club. I think your video did this perfectly, I don’t know if that was necessarily the intent lol however, it most certainly showed how the shape of a club impacts how the player strikes the ball and sees the shots before they hit them. Great video and thank you for the great content!

@2ndswingКүн бұрын
Most likely the DarkSpeed Max model because it has a little draw bias to it. The high launch can be adjsuted with the hosel settings. tuning down loft will help optimize that

I have played T300 for three years. Honestly, I can shape it both ways and my handicap has gone down from 13 to 8. I think a lot of it is in the feel and look for the player. Clearly, Emma likes the small head and feels she can turn the ball with it, but I like the confidence inspiring head I don’t have a problem producing a strong draw.

The main thing that affects shape is face to path. On shots where face to path is pretty neutral, you just end up hitting a slight fade or draw. When it's bigger the curve is bigger. You saw she was still able to shape is perfectly when face to path was high even with the T350.

I bet that if you look at the dynamic lie angle, the T350 will be more toe down than the T100. That is why it was easier to draw the T100. It is also why the T350 was harder to draw, but still could fade. The reason that the dynamic lie is flatter with the T350 is due to the additional weight in the toe. Club Champion (formerly TXG) did a video about this a few years ago. Look up "Blade VS Game Improvement Irons" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4HFnJ5-ZZJ4oKs

Have the callaway apex CB on the way and already have the apex UT irons 18-23* for my long irons all with the project x rifle 6.5 shafts, like others said I tried all 3 and this by far felt the best to me. Personally I’ve always been thrown off pings where they have that semi circular cut by the hosel as it just makes me feel it’ll snap off one day. I (when starting back up) had the HM 921s but tried the 225s when replacing my P790s and have never seemed to get on with Mizunos (no known reason) My recent fitting I was convinced it was due to be the T150s or Apex Pros I was going to go for liking some forgiveness but less offset but awkwardly the CB were offering better results than the pros to me…
@2ndswing2 сағат бұрын
Great feedback and awesome to hear that you're dialed in! The Apex CB is a good iron no doubt
@CharlesFromage4 күн бұрын
Obviously Emma is a great player and everyone is different with delivery, but this doesn’t make sense to me. T350 has more offset which is going to make the ball go more left all-else equal. I also don’t understand why less back spin has anything to do with spin axis. If anything, I’d think it would be bigger with a stronger lofted club.
