Amazing for the ambiance, the food is decent, and that's being a bit generous. EDIT: I have to mention that I haven't been there in years, so this is based on my memories of many visits to this restaurant.

@@EricWalksEverywhere the flavor was good, but every time I'd been there it was way overcooked and dry. Like I said, I loved the ambiance and the location. It's absolutely beautiful, but the food was just decent. Not great, but also not bad. Although, maybe things have changed. I unfortunately haven't been there in about 20 years...

Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. The Regent Seven Seas is breathtakingly tacky. It would be far more impressive if there were a video which explains how a ship the size of a small town can travel port-to-port while doing so "green" ... that is to say ... not dump waste at sea ... not cause severe ecological harm to our oceans.

My wife and I just returned from Alaska on this ship. We were not impressed at all. Food was average and employees were not very responsive. They seemed like robots and we saw some disciplined by superiors in front of guests. It is WAY too overpriced and not enough time at the different ports. It was our 40th wedding anniversary and we were never recognized about it. Saved up a long time for this trip and wished we would have gone somewhere else.

I'm exploring the KZbiniverse for options for an off the beaten path trip to Japan late 2025. This vlog really stirred something in me. This is the Japan I want to see, far from the madding crowds of of Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo. Any tips on an alternative to the Nakasendo trail as an alternative walk through the the old heart of Japan?

Another walking trail almost as famous as the Nakasendo would be the Kumano Kodo. Might be worth exploring for you. Kamakura can also get crowded but everywhere I explore in Japan I always try to spend the night. This allows me to get up early and film before the crowds form. That's probably the best tip I can pass along for your trip. Best months for Japan in my opinion are October and November.
