No, you can play on any map you can get.

For day/night cycles: open your config,system file. The settings are in there. I don't know about rain settings.

If you're making your desired changes in the right places (eg. DZConfig for night/day settings) then the only issue that I've had with this in the past has been the changed files being overwritten to default during an update to the server or when using the 'verify' function in Steam. If you're using the Steam shortcut to start your server then it will always check for updates. I'm guessing this isn't your problem though. As I said, day and night cycles are changed in DZConfig (although it's a slightly confusing multiplyer IMO). What changes are you making to loot spawns (and where)?

@@BFNowhere I used the loot change your recommended using Booster Z x2 loot and added a few extra helis. I have not changed where things spawn as i wanted a vanilla experience just more loot no stamina. The only files i have made changes too is DZconfig, Events, cgfgameplay and types. I did notice when i have searched for these files 3 iterations of each come up all identical so i copied my changes to all 3. I haven't done anything else, if i have missed anything i cant figure it out. Thank you for taking the time to reply if you are not sure about a fix ill try it all again on a fresh install :).

I haven't tried to do the same things as you with the loot and helicopter crash spawns etc. So I can't say what's wrong really. It's often something really simple in my experience: something you've forgotten to do (usually) 🙂

No mods in this series but I used Namalsk Survival and then Expansion mods in later series.

That's a lot of mods to get working! In my case I chose mods that have some installation instructions or at least had videos that helped. I did a video on installing Expansion which shows how I did it.

I don't know. You have two Steam shortcuts, so maybe with Steam in offline mode. There are ways to have the server offline but it's the game I'm not sure about.

Yes. I usually played DayZ 'normally' when not making videos. I'm not a great player and am wary of multiplayer games generally.

I installed Zomberry for a while during my last DayZ series (I got stuck on the map and had to teleport). I don't remember having any difficuty but I can't remember specifically. The server needs to be run once with the mod installed to generate a file I think. That may be where the Steam ID went. I'm guessing you've already checked the mod installation page. There's also a Discord link (if you use Discord).

Your server isn't installed properly or is not updated (most likely). Either verify the server with steam (see 'troubleshooting' sticky) or re-install it completely.

I think you do, yes. It's just a normal server that you're running locally.

A few people have reported this as a problem. I don't know for sure but there are a few possibilities - none of them are particularly likely: 1. Is your PC connected to the internet at the time? Can you see other online servers under the 'Official' and 'Community' tabs? You might need to be connected, at least for the first part, as your private server will be communicating with Steam. 2. You Windows user account doesn't have sufficient 'rights' to access network information. This could be the case if it's a PC with multiple users with different levels of access to networks (including local networks - which this is). 3. Your anti-virus software is not allowing the DayZ game to access the network information it needs. Games might need to be 'whitelisted' manually. Alternatively; disable the anti-virus software and try again. One thing you should be able to do regardless is using the 'direct connect' option. Use the port address 127.0.0.1 Hope this helps...

There is one other remote possibilty I forgot: your server isn't running. Could you be accidentally closing the server window? That would just shut it down.

​It is none of these possibilities, and no I do not close the server window. If you say a few people are reporting this issue with the LAN server not appearing, maybe it is a recent issue? Can you maybe check if you try this again, if it will occur? I am really not sure, but i am a new day z player and I dont want to play in public servers just yet, because I dont know the game all too well.@@BFNowhere

It's not a recent issue.

I don't think you can. You could look for PVE servers or join one with nobody on it. You'd probably never run into somebody but the remote possibility could give a little bit of an edge. 🙂

@nicholaskennell6450 That was me making that video series 😀. On PC you can just download the server software and run it 'offline' on the same machine.

It can be done BUT: this is a network issue and nothing to do with setting the server up in a particular way. You would have to set up a network hub on your PC and then enable other people to connect to it. There'll be loads of information on how to do this out there. I've never tried to do it myself. It would probably be easier to rent a private server and just use it for your friends.

It could be that you're offline when trying to start your server maybe. I think that that part of the process is when the server is trying to 'talk' to Steam.

I'm not making videos at all at the moment. To change your map, download the desired map - usually found in the Steam DayZ Workshop (although you may need to follow links from there to other sites to find the data files needed). This data should be copied to your 'mpmissions' folder on the server. When you've done that, you should have a folder called 'dayzOffline.nameofmap' in there. Copy any 'keys' provided to the 'keys' folder already on your server (copy the key itself, not the whole folder). Then open your 'serverDZ.cfg' and at the bottom, change the 'Template="dayzOffline.chernarusplus" to 'Template="dayzOffline.nameofmap". These are the basics. Some maps have additional elements that require the copying of xml files, so some are easier than others to install. The Livonia DLC is easiest - you just need to copy the 'template' part for that. Namalsk and Takistan are both quite easy. Chiemsee was more complicated. Those are the maps I've tried.

It covers all of the basics (download, copy to server and the 'keys') and the copying and pasting of XML files that some mods will also need. If you want to use the 'start.bat' that I created for the mods in this video then remember to change the mods listed on the 'launch parameters' line to whatever you want to install (if you want different mods of course).

You don't need a folder called 'games'.

I have no reason to think that it won't. As long as the server software is freely available users will be able to run their own server.

@StuPhee A couple of reasons really. For one thing it takes months to record a full Fallout series (as I discovered with Frost). For a small channel - it's a lot of time commitment for what would likely be a handful of views.
