@@AlmostSideways Thanks. I'm open to the extremes of Adam West and BATMAN RETURNS. And I was ok with the BATMAN BEGINS (2005). Not what I was expecting. But, an unexpected journey can still be good. Romance between Mr. J. and HQ in the 1997 BATMAN & SUPERMAN , fine. The Joker cheating death in ROTJ, sure! Touching reunion in RTTBC (2003), sure. But NO to a WOKE film (as Ben Shapiro put it): "Does not like Batman."

Okay. I went to see this film, expecting something decent. I was surprised however at how disappointed I was. While there were a couple of good (out of nowhere) jump scares, the actual story, along with its resolution felt lazy and (frankly) just a little stupid. Props to Nic Cage for his portrayal of such a creepy character, but unfortunately the story itself doesn't underpin his performance. Said simply, it wasn't what it was cracked up to be.

I saw the film today, and really appreciated how it shows women as allies, coming to each other for support and love when they have difficulties. It is so reassuring that way! And of course, if a man has any problems, you just kick him out of the house. I think that's typical in some regions of the country.

I have now seen it twice. It is better on the second view when you know what’s happening and can better pick up Costner’s subtle suggestions of the passage of time early on. But the Hayes storyline is the most unconnected from the others. Like the movie keeps being interrupted to go back to that story. I also noticed that there’s a link between the wagon train story and the Sienna Miller story but the movie never underlines that connection.

8:16 there was a scene for Chinese people. Let me guess, this scene was near a railroad. And if it was, shame on second reviewer for not understanding our own history 😂🤦‍♂️. Then goes on to complain about DEI garbage. You can’t say you didn’t like the portrayal of the Apache when you don’t even know the true history of our Country 😂🤦‍♂️. Let me guess he is pro Biden/Harris.

@MichaelPK03
@MichaelPK03 Ай бұрын
@@zachsaltz9976 what? Makes zero sense. Not everybody has to have a story. They are in the movie because the movie wants to be as historical accurate as possible. You questioning them there showed all I need to know. I don’t like the way they treated or portrayed the Apache. Real Apache, love the way Cosnter has portrayed us. Who would I listen to so guy who is not native tell me about portrayal of them being fair or not. Crazy takes. Seem more political ideology bias than movie bias

I think when ever we discuss anything - movies, music art etc -we always seems to have part of our world view/ life experience reflect that as well. Doesn't mean it's a bad things it's the way the certain thing made you feel. For what it's worth at least that's my two cents - Adam
@MichaelPK03
@MichaelPK03 Ай бұрын
@@AlmostSideways I can respect that. Each there own but I can’t see how anybody would be hyper critical of things like why is the Chinese here? What’s the purpose? Huh? If you need that explained, maybe you shouldn’t tell us how different cultures are being portrayed in the movie as well. Seems like nitpicking. I would say 85% of the reviews say it was good, I’m in for part 2. It’s a tv show though. Which, makes me think it’s a gem. Nobody goes to the theatre anymore. Anyways, I can’t believe people rated shows like Acolyte at 90% critically and this 30%. Bias reeks in Hollywood. Corrupt to its core
@zachsaltz9976
@zachsaltz9976 Ай бұрын
@@MichaelPK03 Did you actually see the film? The Chinese characters were introduced without names or backgrounds midway through the film. If Costner wanted to make a truly comprehensive and epic story of the west, those perspectives should have been given more weight and substance. It’s not nitpicking, it’s my review of the film. I do not approach the film from an Indigenous perspective, but I am someone who is tired of seeing Native characters reduced to negative stereotyping, which numerous Native and non-Native critics have pointed out with this film.
