Hello Professor Shaffer, inspiring work and lectures! I am currently writing an assignment on epistemic games and I have recently bought your book but I have not read it yet. I only watched a few of your interviews and researched a bit about games such as Digital Zoo, Electrocity, Urban Science, Nephrotex, Journalism.net, Pandora Project and Climate Challenge. They are all touching important topics and the potential for change is great. Having said this, at this point I would like to take your revolutionary idea even a step further and therefore I suggest you focus on building games that really change how the system works. We could teach children to help tackling wealth inequality, hunger, pollution, sickness(Nephrotex is already doing that), prejudice, overpopulation, fairness towards eachother, etc. I think epistemic games can be a wonderful tool for shaping young minds not only to equip them with the creative skillset that they need to succeed in the contemporary world but also to build a better future society, but this ultimate goal can only be achieved if a real moral and ethical change is adopted from the start. That means there has to be a shift from competition to cooperation. Thank you and good luck with your future endevours!
