I played this game on the PSP and had a tremendous amount of fun (sure wish I didn’t trade the thing in when I was a dumb kid. Thankfully, I recently bought a modded Vita). It’s too bad that Sony killed Japan Studio, and abandoned so many of their old IPs.

I just replayed it again a couple of days ago and yep it's still one of my favorite PlayStation games. There's just nothing else quite like it. Will forever adore this game. Great video

I had a blast playing this game a few years ago, I found it very surprising how cool the mechanics and environments were for a PS1 game, since there are a lot of boring PS1 games out there. I thought the lobby looked really cool and i liked the minigames too. This PS1 game holds up pretty well today. If I had a tier list, id' place this game just under the Crash Bandicoot games. One interesting fact that I discovered on accident is that the American version game files contain the title screen from the Japanese version. My PS1 glitched and loaded it as the main title screen once.

One of the reasons people say this is because they have this weird manchild vendetta againsy Playstation for closing Japan Studio "for no reason", completely ignoring their track record of flop after flop and the fact that Team Asobi is literally there. I really doubt it will do bad, people are hyped for this game and the marketing has been great if you go outside which twitter users don't do that lets be honest here. Some part of me thinks they wanna see the game fail to complement their dumb narrative.

I wanted to buy the controller but it was sold out everywhere very quickly. I planned to play the new game with it. I pre-ordered the new Astro Bot game and I consider myself a Astro fan. I am excited for it. But I think the merchandise needs improvement. I wanted a Astro plush, but seeing the official one I changed my mind. It looked like it was low quality, which had me disappointed since I really wanted one. I'd love to see more merchandise, though. If they make another Astro plush, I'd buy it. And I agree, I think the marketing for it is fine. I just hope this game becomes successful.

I think part of the reason why Astro Bot "isn't getting any marketing" is because it doesn't need to, this game has been in everyone's mouths since it's reveal, PlayStation has also done a lot to place him front and center of the events, like for fuck's sake, he got a giant pinball themed around his world, you telling me his game isn't getting marketing? Compare that to Concord, which they've been desperate to market because everyone loathes it's existence and you get a night and day situation. We all want this game to do well, but this game IS getting marketing, and sometimes word of mouth is more powerful than marketing is.

The marketing for Astro Bot was everywhere in the UK and Japan. I can see this being a big hit even during the holiday season where we might see PS5 bundles

Honestly, I feel like if Astro Bot *was* marketed as much as Concord, we'd be *less* excited because we'd have more answers than questions. The more you show, the less amazing it'd be when you do play because "oh yeah, I've seen this from the trailer." So, there won't be a sense of discovery. On the flipside, when you don't have any marketing, you're just left wondering what the game is even about or if you'll like it or not. Astro Bot balances between the two lines perfectly. It's showing us enough to the point where we know if we'll like it, but it's not showing too much for the sake of getting people hyped.

It barely even lasted 2 weeks, hopefully this shows playstation devs that constantly pumping out live service garbo would be no good for the brand. if they wanna make more games reliant on multiplayer games then i suggest they do some it takes two or a way out style game.

@@SgtTails They should take some inspiration from Helldivers 2 if Playstation wants to make money. It *cooould* count as a "live service game" but the monitization is entirely optional, there if you want to support the dev team/don't want to spend a long time gathering Super Credits. The monitization of Helldivers 2, being a $40 game, isn't in your face, and you can earn premium currency at a rare but random chance, and they're in the... I want to say battlepass, but really it's not, but yeah. That and the game is just generally hella fun. So the players won't hesitate when wanting to grab some extra currency because they're a fan of what the game is and they'd gladly spend their money on the IP they love. To make it short, Playstation just needs to realize chasing trends isn't the way to go. What they need to do is just make games that come from a great idea and something that will actually bring something new to the table. Because it doesn't matter how much budget you have, if the game you're making just isn't fun and there's no reason for players to play outside of one or two matches, then they won't want to spend extra money on it.

I just don’t want a repeat of MediEvil Remake and Concrete Genie sony has a reputation to not bother marketing cartoony games we need sony to realize people want more from PlayStation than the cinematic movie like experiences we’ve come to know since the ps4 granted ps3 had them as well but atleast they were still putting out Ratchet & Clank, LBP, and Team Japan titles nowadays not so much it’s a slap in the face as someone who grew up with PlayStation since the ps1 days I really hope Astro Bot sells well we don’t need 6 Horizon projects and another TLOU Re-remake

As a day one player and lover of HiFi Rush, i think that this whole "they killed the game fuck Microsoft" panic on the internet is an extremely hypocrital thing. Like, the game flopped, both on Gamepass and on the stores, on multiple consoles (3mln is an okay number for Gamepass alone, but in total? Nah man) nobody cared enough to play it. Then they close the team and all of a sudden everyone freaking love this game. Is not a justification for Microsoft, not at all, but im sick of this false "i have to pretend to like a failed game because is trendy rn" thing (Im not talking directly about you ofc, is a general situation)

It hurts me too. I love this game and I wish we could've gotten a sequel. But I quess that we'll never get it, unless Xbox borrow the IP to some other developer(like with the supposed Spyro game, that Toys for bob are working on) Side note: I personally am glad the Indiana Jones game is 1st person, because I just kinda prefer it in games with combat. But at the same time, I think they could try to implement optional 3rd person like in Bethesda games and upcoming Awoved.

Banana Blitz was one of my first SMB games, so I'm quite used to the more platformer-style games. I have since gotten to play-and come to enjoy-the more classic games, but they definitely took me some adjusting to. I can see how the classic fans in turn can look at this game and not immediately be a fan; it is quite a paradigm shift, after all. But like you said, if they looked at this game as a platformer, rather than a rolling ball puzzle, they'd probably appreciate it more. Also, this era was legitimately the best for series music. Banana Blitz's and Step & Roll's BGM are such bangers that I have a good chunk of the OSTs in my playlist.
