Hey man I have a b18c1 swap in my 93 eg hatch. Bought the crv ac bracket so I can continue to use my d series ac compressor . I purchased a new 93 hatch ac condenser and it did not work. The ac pressure sensor and the ac lines did not match up to the condenser. The old condenser is a 4540 SPECTRA 141 26/17. But the part is no longer available. What specific condenser do I need
@projectgoodspeed16 күн бұрын
@Thearttofracing The ac system from the 92-93 civics is different from the 94-95 civics. Im not sure of ALL the differences other than they use different refrigerants. My condenser might be different so Im not exactly sure which condenser you would need. I think the 4540 number looks familiar…. Maybe the pressure sensor is different??
@Thearttofracing16 күн бұрын
@ the pressure sensor I have on the car is perfect, it’s just that the condenser does not fit to the lines or sensor to thread into
@Thearttofracing16 күн бұрын
@ the Spectra 4540 is no longer available but I found a link that had the same part and the fitment it said it fits for 93-97 del so and 94-95 civic , but I also had someone told me to use the 96-00 civic condenser. Not sure what to do lol
@projectgoodspeed16 күн бұрын
@Thearttofracing Maybe its just a weird aftermarket flaw. I know when i was doing my install i bought a brand new evaporator for 96-00 civics for my cabin air filter retrofit and it was supposed to be a direct bolt on, but the evaporator didnt even fit in the evap box
@filthycasual118220 күн бұрын
ever since i subbed to your channel i’ve been getting great advice how to gut and fix my own civic hatchback your videos are extremely helpful to me thanks brotha
@JeffreyJamesBrown21 күн бұрын
I was wondering if you had a link to the replacement evaporator core you purchased? I just pulled the evaporator box I’m using from a 94 and noticed it’s pretty beat up and dirty. Figured while it was out I was going to try to replace it and you’d mentioned in the video you had some problems with fitting on one of the aftermarket cores. Thank you in advance for your help! Also, still trying to track down a 2000 civic evaporator box so I can get the filter too! Was this strictly on the hatches? Or every model has them for 2000?
@projectgoodspeed20 күн бұрын
@JeffreyJamesBrown i dont have a link but i looked up my receipt from Oriley autoparts and the part number is ‘Murray Climate Control Evaporator 54296’ this model is for 96-01 civics. I believe its the same for 97-01 honda crvs aswell. I have taken out a bunch of these evaporators from those models and they are pretty much interchangeable. The only thing you need to make sure is you have the right housing because some evaps are rounded off on the corners while others are squared. The aftermarket ‘Murray’ ones are rounded so if you get an evap box from the junkyard as long as you check that it has a rounded evaporator then a brand new aftermarket one should fit!👍 I didnt realize this until it was too late so i returned the evaporator. But now i know the evaporators you can use are from 96-01 honda civics and 97-01 honda crvs (try not to mix and match evaps and evap boxes unless they are compatible) they have different model numbers but will all fit. (Havent checked which model number has what).
@JeffreyJamesBrown19 күн бұрын
@ thank you! Installed the condenser box but had a problem with the thermostat switch and had to order a 92/93 2 prong version to work with my 94 ac system (with a 3 prong). Pulled off the rad and some of the smaller ac lines too. Do you happen to know the wrench size of the larger ac lines? Going to pick up the right sizes so I don’t strip anything. Thank you again in advance!
@projectgoodspeed18 күн бұрын
@JeffreyJamesBrown Yeah okay. The AC system is different between the 92-93 and 94-95 honda civics models. So you definitely want to stick to matching years in terms of ac lines go. I pulled the thermostat sensor from the 96-01 civics and i believe they are the same but just different lengths.(because they CAN be mounted in different locations) Now for the AC lines i believe i just used crescent wrenches to remove. And the bolts that attach to the components are either 10 mm or 12mm classic honda sizes👍
@JeffreyJamesBrown18 күн бұрын
@ thank you I’ll grab larger crescent wrenches tonight. Re: AC systems yep totally aware but the 2-prong thermostat switch they use on the 92/93 is was only for those two years then updated to 3 prong sensor. Your civic is a 95 correct? So you’d have from stock the right wiring to plug into it (as all from 94/95 ac system). This problem is specific to 92/93 as I’m upgrading to the newer ac system. This 94/95 system uses a 3 prong standard but you can swap it out like I’m doing. You can also splice the 3 wire but didn’t want to rip up my oem wiring and the switches are readily available. Also I believe the same switch and condenser was used up to 2000 so you were lucky getting the 94/95 version originally as many more parts and less hacking to make it work. Ended up buying new evaporator, compressor, drier, gaskets and oil in one kit for the fix.
@projectgoodspeed18 күн бұрын
@JeffreyJamesBrown Yeah mines a ‘95. Niice!! I would’ve prefered new components as well but i went with used junkyard stuff for now(except the drier).👍 Maybe later on ill search for the new stuff. But compressors are hard to come by lol

@ It’s just great to have an EG with such a supportive community! My first car was a red si but I sold her long ago with regret. I was so thankful to find this one owner black flint si with all factory options. Had to restore the entire exterior (including welding in new wheel arches) but was worth it to save her! The B18C1 I was thankful my buddy hooked me up with it. The original D series needed to be rebuilt so I decided to go this route and stay era correct. I’ll be coming down to the Bay Area on a cruise this summer so maybe we’ll cross paths. Wish you all the best with your build and once again can’t thank you enough for all the help/advice 👊
