How are you tying the tippet to the bend in the hook I can never get that tied

Very nice tie Ethan. Tommy’s Twisted Willy is similar looking but he uses a furled tail.

Great little video. I made my first fly yesterday. I copied Kelly's Silk Kitty and had a blast doing it. Your video filled in a few gaps in the techniques that maybe he cruises through too fast or takes for granted. Thank you sir. 🤘🏼

Love the tie but the that hook connection has costed me a lot of fish….. doesn’t let the hook roll freely 😊

I missed a 20+ brown today on a green weenie my cousin made with a loop tail. I had no chance of landing it. I'm new and have no idea I'm doing wrong. If I was using my spinning reel, I would have no problems. I have a 9 foot 5 weight with 4x leader. It's such a huge learning curve and often get frustrated.

Please, is the bead "4.6 mm"? Thank you so much.
@taletellersflyshop1071 Жыл бұрын
4.6 is good, but they are hard to find now - a 4.3mm or 3.8 is sufficient if you can find them! They just won't sink as fast.

I have a question can I use this technique all year round or only certain time of the year?
@andrewkent6283 Жыл бұрын
You definitely can use it year around, but it is most commonly used in mountain streams in the fall/spring. If you use it in winter, treat the dry fly mainly as an indicator. However, there are occasions (warm sunny days) where trout will still go for the dry, so it is nice to have an "indicator" with a hook in it. Cheers!

"You're allowed to over-wrap your material." No Sir, bud! I'm calling the Fly Tying Police right now! 🙂 Super pattern! Thanks for sharing! Oh, maybe put a tiny little square of foam back in the shank part to make it stand on its head? You'd have to fool with it to figure out how much.

Definitely can be done. I believe the the Gully Worm does that very thing. I’ve also used marabou or curly fly tails to make it more of a curly tail swimming worm.

@taletellersflyshop10712 жыл бұрын
This rod breaks down into 4 pieces! Individual rod sections are about 22”. The rod tube itself is just over 25”. Hope that helps!

Great video, loved the tip on cutting a square out of the polar fiber. I will definitely be putting that to use! Henry is such a cool guy I was lucky enough to talk to/listen to him talk about striper fishing at a fly fishing expo a few years back. All his knowledge on freshwater stripers has helped me land many on my local waters. I kind of understand people on re-naming a variation, BUT if everything was just called a variation then searching for specific flies like this would be a mess. This fly may look close to one, but it performs completely different than a standard clouser.
