Just happened upon this video and it reminded me of sometime in 2009 a coworkers brother was on a solo trip fly fishing around Oregon. On his 3rd day out he didn’t contact his family so they became concerned. As it turned out he had taken a step into a hole and gotten his boot stuck and water filled up his wader.

People complain about the logo, but for me, the blank is a boring mat black. You need the logo just to add some pop of color. I own the rod in a 9 weight. The most aesthetically pleasing part of the package is the rod tube and sock. The rod blank is a major meh. I wish I had not purchased this as the G. Loomis Asquith is much better looking rod for $140 more.

Please let us know how customers are liking these. The design is radically different than older generations. The Uppers are made with recycled plastic! They feel really stiff and can't imagine they will ever break in. I'm curious to know how comfortable they are for all day use and hike-in trips

Simms Europe Customer Service is the worst I have even been unforunate to experience, they make you feel like a criminal when you question the build quality of their products even though the item in question (G4 Guide wading jacket) was faulty! I will never buy another Simms Product because of this treatment.

I’ve had them all over the years and have settled on the Fishpond Tacky boxes for 2 things- first they’re waterproof, more than once I’ve dropped a box in the water and had to take all the flies out to dry so the hooks don’t rust. Secondly I like the silicone slit over the foam slits, the foam tends to wear from use and doesn’t hold the flies as tight. If you’re looking for light weight only then the fulling mill boxes are great.

Apart from the Simms tippet threading slot which is a new one on me they are all over priced junk for tackle tarts. Still using the same nippers I brought over twenty years ago and I fish 200 days a year, my secret? One sheet of 800grit wet and dry paper. Nippers get dull, put the paper on a flat surface, I use a piece of glass, place the flat side where you do your nipping against the paper rub for less than a minute and they are good to go again.

Nice nets I need to get a longer handle so it will stay in my Fishpond 2.0 belt system ! As far ass the digital thermometer what a load of crap I can put my finger in the water and tell if it's cold enough and if it's to cold for me where I'm standing then so is the water !.....what the temps a few degrees off so your not gonna fish there ? You might as well strap a fish finder to your wadder boot ! Fly Fishing is a intuitive common sense state of mind sport not a scientific positive or negative !

I really like my new Helios 4, but overall my Loop 7X is a better rod. Better in the wind, every bit as accurate, easily as strong, and way less torsional flex when fighting large Atlantic Salmon. Both are 9’ 8wt rods. That said, the Helios is an incredible rod that will make any fisherman extremely happy to fish with it. Bringing back the white stripe was a bad idea, imo it looks awful, but that’s not an important complaint about a fly rod. It’s absolutely the best rod Orvis ever made, without question
@stonehorn4641

Also, it’s hilarious that after 33 years of fly fishing, I know damn well shaking a rod tells me absolutely nothing, but I still need to do it every time I pick up a rod.

@@stonehorn4641 oh, come on. It does tell you something. You can better understand how it behaves. How stiff the blank is. Yes, it's not enough buy still. Some rods just feel better in the hand than others. And we should go with those feeling great. Fishing is joy so let's choose our toys properly)))

It’s not hard but it’s too many steps. Orvis makes better tippet holders and plus I have the Simms Tributary sling pack and there’s no where to put a tippet holder. Great pack but Simms dropped the ball by not making a certain location specifically for your tippet instead of storing it inside like a caveman.

Not denying the design or craftsmanship, but this reel will do absolutely nothing to help you catch more fish. If you have money to burn, fine. If you don't spend it on casting lessons, a guide to teach you how to read the water, better fly line, etc.
@tuckaseegeeflyshop
@tuckaseegeeflyshop 5 ай бұрын
just like any sport or hobby you can put as little money or as much money as you want into it. don't disagree about using that money for a lesson or trip to make you a better angler though.
