Yes, just a couple weeks ago... It's been devastating. I actually recorded this for him and Tony back in 2019, as a guide vocal so they could sing it together live... unfortunately we never got the chance due to Covid.

This is largely how I feel doing Whole 30 once again. It's been a few years and I've recently realized that I am most likely lactose-intolerant, having known for over a decade that I have a pretty serious wheat allergy that I continuously ignore. My advice (and part of the reason I do Whole 30) is to cut out anything remotely similar in appearance to the things you are allergic to. Get used to not having substitutes (banana protein pancakes are an exception I make daily) but training yourself on a super simple and cut down diet (like tuna, eggs, chicken, broccoli) for at least a couple months of the yearhelps tremendously. Oh, and this song has been my wakeup alarm for over five years now, as well as my ringtone.

Weirdly I only learned that after making this video. What happened was, I kept hearing the song being played at weddings, and thinking "...what the hell is wrong with you people?? This song is terrifying!" Turns out it was supposed to be. Who knew? (Well, you did. But I didn't.)

Thank you very much, Patricia. That was my hope; even though the lyrics and story are quite sad, I know that I'm not the one going through this type of experience. And I know how much songs that "keep me company" during those lows is a huge part of how I get through them. My hope was that this song could do that for others, so I'm so grateful it did for you <3

I'm interested in how they recorded this
@MichaelBihovsky3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for the question. First I arranged and recorded the instruments, because I didn't think that any of the karaokes that were available at the time would work well for our purposes. Then I recorded all four vocal parts, and sent them to my cast so they could learn them before coming in to record. Next, each cast member came in individually to record their part with me. This was about a month before we ever got on set, so we had to make a lot of strong acting choices ahead of time so that the vocals would match our actions and expressions in the actual video. Then we filmed the whole video in two days, in three separate locations. We also had two phenomenal and resourceful cinematographers working the camera and lighting, and two production assistants who helped us move everything around as quickly as possible (and start and stop the music for each individual shot). Hope that answers your question! If you're interested in more behind-the-scenes details, check out www.onegrainmore.com!

I understand that this song was mostly about romantic concerns, but I interpreted it more broadly. I interpreted the concept of hope more generally, as a reference to how I will never be able to truly rely on any sort of long-term planning, about how any hope or identity could vanish into thin air at a moment's notice, because EDS is a goddamn entropy magnet. This pandemic - and the resulting deconditioning - has absolutely kicked my ass. My chronic illnesses are an actual, disruptive problem for the first time in my life, and I'm honestly scared. So I relate.
@MichaelBihovsky3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such and honest and vulnerable comment. You actually nailed my own interpretation/intention perfectly - the romantic connection was the inspiration behind this specific story, but the deeper fears and context are exactly what you're saying. When I ask "Will I remain alone and still infected?" I'm not just referring to her - I'm referring to everyone, and everything. Wishing you the best of luck in all your trials - I'm so sorry that they are there to begin with.

@@MichaelBihovsky Already found and following your Facebook page. And shared your video.
