Great video, I have an all dark room,navy walls no windows, what do you think about the steward phantom halr + 1.3 gain A.T. screen, and do yall sell that, would that be better than slate 1.2 for better contrast paired with a nz800
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV22 сағат бұрын
We sell it and we love it. It is better ALR than the Slate...slightly less in color accuracy but a super screen. NZ800 amazing as well.
@acai221622 сағат бұрын
@ okay I was mainly concerned about black levels And contrast vs slate in a dark room I can’t get black diamond due to not being AT
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV22 сағат бұрын
@@acai2216 It's darker so it will be better at blacks even in a dark room for sure.

How could The Fifth Element which is a 1997 movie be recorded in 8K :) It was shot on 35mm film, and it was last remastered in 4K.
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV22 сағат бұрын
35 mm can range from 3-12Million pixels. When it was shot it was said they shot in 8K or beyond. Typically way more than 4K though so they just called it that...back then was a big deal. Doesn't matter because there is no source for it. But it's great video for calibrating so don't get hung up on silly things. : )

A 2.35 setup is a widescreen setup. A wide-screen needs a wide room. You dont have a wide room. So a 16:9 maxes out that rooms capability. You maxed out the height of the screen But imagine you added 5 foot to the left and 5 foot to the right of the room. Making it a wider room. Your 153 inch screen is 6.25 feet high. Same height, you can fit a 177 inch scope screen. So youd have to have a wide room to takr advagtange a wide screen aspect ratio. If you dont, no point.
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV6 күн бұрын
I explain all the ratios in other videos.

So glad you put Open Range on the list, the rain scenes are the best I’ve heard and I’ve listened to quite a few films. Opening scene of Overlord actually entire film is mixed top notch. Original Twister opening still scares the crap out of me. Civil War~Quiet Place Day One actually the entire series is top notch. Anything John Wick. Dune 1-2 , Furiosa incredible Ghhhezzzz I can go on, but really enjoyed your entire vid, great job Thank You and you got a new sub 😎

What screen would you recommend to someone with no ambient or in room lighting and dark colored walls and ceilings for the first 6ft of distance from the screen? In other words a home theater and not a multipurpose room designed to watch occasional movies in. Would you still recommend a ALR screen?

worth it? it's a big no for me, why? because it's a never ending expense. i have between 1,500 to 2000 dvds n blu rays, if it allowed downloading my blu rays onto the server then fine, i'd pick one up today. the problem is i have to buy movies i already have all over again, and at prices we paid when dvd first landed... 20-40 bucks a pop. kaleidescape is like buyin a car, you never finish spending money on it!

My biggest issue with KScape is this, the storage costs are absolutely highway robbery. An 8TB server is $5,000. I can buy a WD Red 8TB drive for under $200. I currently have a Synology NAS with nearly 500 Movies mkv rips, most in Dolby Vision, when available TueHD 7.1 ATMOS plus countless complete TV series and concerts, and the total cost for my hardware is about $900, and I have 28TB of storage, so I dont have to worry about redownloading anything or picking and choosing what to keep and what to delete. Is Plex as pretty, absolutely not, but the money savings is, is ripping discs time consuming, sure, but I have money to do other things, AND have a kick ass library of movies. When, not if, Apple releases their next player, and does bit for bit video and lossless audio, lets face it the movies are about the same price and they do Dolby Vision now, KScape will be in trouble and would not be shocked if Apple buys them outright, they have the means to do it.

Stupid advice. You cannot calibrate anything by eye and with non reference pictures. Also in real calibration the the adjustments are done for every gray scale steps (at least 2 point, or 10-20 IRE steps.) not just globally. Better to just get a calibration device + free software and learn the basics. Doesnt cost that much.

Will one Fathom 113 be sufficient for both music and movie theater? I do have a theater room about 18 x30. Going nuts over which sub to choose. Have narrowed it down to perhaps either the SB17-Ultra or the Fathom V113. Sure, I want nothing but the best, and the 113 much higher price I still can handle. Clearly, you indicate that the 113 is THE reference sub. Have you checked the SB17? Where might it fall short compared to the Fathom, what or where would I hear the shortcomings, if one can call them that? Or will the SB17 be very good with utmost cleanest, just as accurate bass reproduction or close to it, if the Fathom is the yardstick? Thank you.
