This is something I can't bring myself to believe. How can he literally BE god? Why would god allow "himself" to be abused, disrespected and beaten without stopping it all from happening? Afterall, isn't he the creator (a powerful entity)? Also, if god is Jesus, how would he be his OWN son? It makes NO sense. Also, why would he allow himself/his son to be killed (for sins that were not made be the people who weren't the original sinners; Eve and Adam)??? 🤷

Then what was the point of the keys to the kingdom of heaven given to Peter by Christ? (Matthew 16:18-19) Does everyone have these keys? If not, I believe those keys would specifically have to do with the organization of the ministry and the church.

Proverbs 31 10A wife of noble character, who can find? She is far more precious than rubies. 11The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he lacks nothing of value. 12She brings him good and not harm all the days of her life. 13She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. 14She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. 15She rises while it is still night to provide food for her household and portions for her maidservants. 16She appraises a field and buys it; from her earnings she plants a vineyard. 17She girds herselfc with strength and shows that her arms are strong. 18She sees that her gain is good, and her lamp is not extinguished at night. 19She stretches out her hands to the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. 20She opens her arms to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. 21When it snows, she has no fear for her household, for they are all clothed in scarlet.d 22She makes coverings for her bed; her clothing is fine linen and purple. 23Her husband is known at the city gate, where he sits among the elders of the land. 24She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchants. 25Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the days to come. 26She opens her mouth with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband praises her as well: 29“Many daughters have done noble things, but you surpass them all!” 30Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. 31Give her the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her at the gates.

Of course that is a correct interpretation but if you understand the latter day prophecies concerning the gathering of Israel the stick of Ephraim plays a critical role in that gathering! Of course yall will not believe that interpretation and that is understandable because you believe in scriptura a sola and the cessation of God calling and speaking to prophets. Hence, your theology precedes and helps to construct your interpretation as does ours! But I have read the Bool of Mormon many times and testify that it the word of God and is indeed one in our hands with the Bible!! I know that because I fasted and prayed to know the truth! I find it fascinating that yall will counsel people to NOT pray about it as though one can be deceived by prayer yet be foolproof in their interpretation of the Bible as though your mind through study cannot be deceived!! Yes, Satan can tap into those delicate lines of spiritual communication but God will answer prayers with an accompaniment of the fruits of the spirit'----peace, joy, and love. Satan cannot duplicate those fruits....he is not allowed to do so!! You will not be deceived through prayer if you understand how God answers! The fruits of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ are wonderful!!

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have had the opportunity of entertaining a good many young LDS missionaries in my home and enjoyed getting to know each of them. They challenged me to read The Book of Mormon, Doctrines and Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price - which I did. In turn I challenged them to read the Bible from cover to cover, which I hope some of them did. It is true that Bible believing Christians believe in Scriptura sola in that Scripture is the God breathed truth, particularly with respect to all that we need to know about the relationship between God and man. With respect to this issue, the apostle Paul said in Galatian 1:8-9 "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." Paul's statement is very strong and as you know, there are significant differences in doctrine contained in the teachings of the LDS and those taught in the Bible. Pointing out just a few differences, Joseph Smith was a polytheist while the Bible is very clear in it's teaching of monotheism, for example, Isiah 45:5 'I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God." The person of Jesus Christ is another huge difference. According to LDS doctrine, Jesus is a created being and in fact, the brother of Satan and certainly not the creator of the universe, which existed before his creation. On the other hand, the Bible, including Christ Himself and all of the Apostles, clearly state that Jesus is God incarnate. John 1 for instance clearly states the identity of Jesus Christ and establishes Him as the creator of the entire universe. John 1:1-5 "1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." Finally, just one point on prophesy. We do believe that God can and does use prophets. However, according to scripture, if those prophets differ in any point from the established and eternal Word of God, they are not being directed by God. Again, thanks for your input. I hope the above provides some insight into why we differ in the basics.

First of all, Born Again is not an idea from Jesus, it is the only way to the Farther. Yes, it is a gift from above, however, it is nothing that I have done, not of works, lest anyone should boast. like you said, it comes from above. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. (So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”) Nothing I have done! “Not everyone who says to Jesus, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of our Father in heaven. * So much to study and to understand. * What does it mean to believe (in) Jesus? James 2:19, You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe and tremble! Also, I hear many say that they follow (God) Jesus. Jesus is not here; He is seated next to the Farther. “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and (follow Me.) For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives (in) me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith (in) the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. It is NOT what I have done! It is a gift! Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Jesus is that narrow gate. By faith we enter with nothing, dying to self-daily. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking and it will be given to you, it's a GIFT!

Thanks for your comments. I agree with much of what you wrote but with respect to your comment that Jesus did not initiate the "born again" idea, what do you do with John 3:3-5? " Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born [a]again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." One additional point worth mentioning is that you rightly said that Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father. It is well worth noting however, that Jesus is simultaneously fully God and fully man. As God, He possesses all the attributes of God, one of which is omnipresence. It can be said therefore that Jesus is both here and there. How that happens, I don't know - but some day I will have a chance, face to face, to ask Him. You clearly love the Word of God. For both of us, the Word is a source that we will never stop learning from, even through eternity.

The modern church doesn’t remotely resemble the early church. You’re comparing apples to oranges. American churches are corporations (501c3) and the Bible says as Christians shouldn’t be yoked with unbelievers. Church members are giving their money away to what Jesus called hirelings.

What about people of other religions ? Note when Moses walked from God giving him the Ten Commandments Yahweh said certain people had become depraved ? Interesting these people were not close to God as was Moses but they never even closely suggested for an instant that they did not believe in a God & or that there was a negative doubt about God not having brought them out of the land of Egypt and into the Promised Land of the flush & fruited Israel ? Recall that ? How much deliberation does that issue get nowadays Dumpkin Hinds ? Right Lemichshed ?

Can you hold faith ? Can you touch faith ? Can you see faith ? Therefore distinguish the difference between an idea of nothing provable & this concept of a Christian Reality & being provable & real on this Earth too. Where in the Hebrew Scripture known as the Bible Holy & or otherwise is there 1 verse that says you can find Salvation & Redemption in any devotional denomination ? .

Jesus shouldn't have spoken to God on the cross then because he was just talking to himself as in the third person, he should have just asked why he had forsaken himself. because also the bible says the one against God himself declares himself as God. My son is like me but isn't me therefore I'm his father and he is my son.

Interesting. There are very few historians, Christian or non-Christian who do not believe, based on solid historical data that Jesus did in fact walk this earth. The question is not whether or not he existed - but who he was. Most believe that he was at the very least a good and righteous teacher. However, C.S. Lewis points out that "good teacher" is a descriptor that Jesus Himself has taken off the table. Because Jesus claimed to be God, either He was a great con artist, insane or exactly Who He claimed to be.
