I'm actually working just south of Minneapolis for just this week and was missing my Speed Twin 1200. I watched your video, amongst others, to artificially satiate my desire to ride. It has helped but left me wondering what you've done with your exhaust. They look like Shorty Performers from Cone Engineering. Is that correct and have you done anything with the cat? Mine is a '23 with Euro 5 specs, so a cat removal unfortunately won't be easy. Beautiful bike and a very pretty state.

@justinmoody6122 Hello, and welcome to Minnesota! You are correct, Cone Shortys. Mine is also a '23. I have not done a decat, still debating on that... I have to admit, I love the sound the way it is for now. I hope you get to ride soon, thanks!

Hello and thank you! Comfort for me is spot on, I'm 5- 8, but i know taller riders love it too. I guess that area is personal preference. I should mention that I did put in a full Nitron suspension front and back, good stuff. 👍 I've never complained about not having enough power, super fun bike! Awesome. Have you figured out the venting problem? Many people suggest using a Hakko smoke suppression or a cloudline with the aluminum tube venting it outside. Roast Rebel channel has a great video on this.
@CafeRiderCoffee316Ай бұрын
Hello! April - October I roast out in my garage and I am currently just hanging 4inch flex piping about an inch above the the bullet vent with a galvanized steel vent hood on the end, it works great, the smoke goes straight up and into the rafters. So far I am not a fan of the attachment file Aillio has on their website for the vent, without using a fan like the one you mentioned some of the smoke manages to come out of the bottom of the attachment. This winter I am going to use the method I've been using in my garage all summer, I believe that will be a better way for inside instead of that attachment. I also bought a fume extractor last winter to help with the smoke inside, it helps but it isn't a cure all. Roast Rebel has some good material, thanks for the recommendation, I appreciate it!

I prefer the factory mufflers with the baffles removed. Those, are just too short. The British Customs compitition x-pipe gives mine a full and warm sound, that doesn't crackle or pop on decel. Exhausts that have too little length, in the mufflers excpecially, tend to be power robbing. Everybody assumes less is more for some reason? Doesn't work that way. Unless your racing at WOT constantly. Having some backpressure, actually helps create a more linear poweband. The Pro Curcuit T6 exhaust I chose for my '21 Yamaha YZ450F Monster Energy edition. Has a muffler that's like 3" inches longer than the factory unit. It was one of the most effective mods I made to it. When power isn't the absolute main objective. Why do people choose such obnoxious sounding exhausts? All that money to loose power and sound worse? Don't get it?

pick up a tire repair kit with plugs. You can do it at home and it'll get you to the dealer n/p. I rode a season with a plug in the rear tire. also good if your tire goes right flat while on the road. Just hope a gas station with air is close.

I had a 2019 KTM 690 SMCR that had the S22 tires and then I got S23 , when they were worn. Seemed like a good tire that wears longer . I am looking at possibly buying a Speed Twin, and they have those sticky METZLER tires that will probably not last long … wish they would have put either S23, or Road 6 on these new model Speed Twin 1200!

Rob Hoos said as long as heat is controlled over time to highlight the desired characteristics, machines don't make that much of a difference.
