Best video Ive seen on this hike! Made me more comfortable if I end up going alone. Do you get patches of phone reception up there?
@SeaToSummitAdventures2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the kind words. I don't remember what reception was like along the hike, but I for sure know that the reception was about 1 bar (close to non-existent) at the summit, because (sadly) I couldn't even re-download my drone app and as a result I couldn't get any drone footage. So to answer your question, yes, there is some limited reception, but it's very weak. Don't count on it.

One of my faves is to hike the Hanes Valley from where you started, up to the Grouse ski area, then back down and back to create loop. It's about 9hrs inc. stop for lunch. You can even buy lunch at the ski area if you want to travel light.

Years ago, they had absolutely zero signage and the reason supposedly was to discourage people from going on all of these more 'difficult' hikes. Was super annoying because as certain junctions it was difficult to figure out which way to go sometimes. At around the 4km area, they'd have signs saying 'do not go beyond this point'. Of course we ignored it and kept going, that sign was supposedly, again, to discourage people from hiking too far, and only the experienced hikers knew enough to ignore such signs. So, it's nice now that they have all of this info and allow people to make up their own minds.

Is it not the most glorious of spots -- not for the faint of hearts (nor bad knees-hips-backs++) to get to, unless have a helicopter that can whisk you there. The lake is majestic but cannot imagine much water is present, nor as clean, in August - Sept. Having to oneself is the dream and you checked off that bucket list revisit to this spot.
