Thanks Alan, your video still holds up in 2024. I just picked up a C300 MKII gently used from a camera shop for under $2,000. I’m going to pair it with my C100 MKII. If I need 4k 120, I can use my 90D or R6 MKII. Thanks again

Thanks for your review. I have two questions for you: 1. Does this monitor allow viewing two camera signals side by side? I like to match camera exposures this way, and directors like to see both camera angles with a two camera set up. 2. Some reviewers state the membrane style buttons are stiff and hard to operate. I've had this type of button fail over time. Any thoughts on this?

A silent, almost resentful, Keeper of this untouchable mysterious Nubble Light, had a chance here to shine, give us some history of past Keepers, how he came to work there, why it's his favorite job of his life, & how precious this place is to him. How often does the actual light need changing & how is that done? What is the view from the kitchen & living room & the bedroom? After countless visits & thousands of photos that I've taken of the Nubble, I was so hoping here for some level of the hospitality & loving embrace inside this structure that I've loved my whole life, simply for guiding the ships that it has since it first cast light on this rocky coastline. Invite us in, talk about your enjoyment, a day in the life, sunrise to sunset, lobster meals, blueberry pies that you bake fresh, your plan to paint the inside of the stairway, anything friendly or tangible at all. I thought I wanted to post this on my facebook, & I was ready to, but there's so much missing here, so much missing of humanity & returned love to the vast audience who adores this lighthouse every day of every year. It was so barren & stoic of a video, I just couldnt press the button to repost this. If this was a metaphor for life, it would be, don't hope to be loved in return, I'm just here & I don't feel or appreciate a thing. Can we do a loving affectionate Documentary please?

so, You can not record RAW with the image stabilisation ?
@AnchorLineTV4 жыл бұрын
Right, unless we missed a cool setting. But in order to stabilize, the camera isn’t using a full sensor readout. It would be awesome if you could download the gyro information and push in on the raw in post, but we don’t know of a way to do that currently. Maybe Canon will add that ability later...We hope so.

Nice video. Can't quite tell the lens, (35mm 1.4?) but I'm assuming no lens IS for either clip. I don't do a lot of follows like this but it looks like there's a definite benefit with the EIS on the new camera. Mostly I've been using it in human tripod mode, and it seems to help there as well.

I gave you a like as, make no mistake, I do appreciate you! 😀Some people have commented on raw from the canon c500 Mark II being noisier than the Canon c200, before any postproduction is applied , what is your view of this ? Also, on a comment on a different you stated you think the Arri “blows” the Canon c500 Mark II out of the water - what codec do you normally record in? Would you say Arri footage recorded using Prores 444 would blow the Canon raw light away? Keep up the good work. I look forward to your future videos!
@AnchorLineTV4 жыл бұрын
creativeorstrange thanks for watching, and thanks for the appreciation. We also appreciate you. - There does seem to be a good amount of noise in the RAW footage, but honestly, if you are shooting raw that shouldn’t be a problem. Between crushing the blacks and a good, light denoising, it isn’t a big issue. I think you are mostly hearing complaints from people who probably shouldn’t be shooting raw in the first place as the 10bit has FAR less noise. - I do think that the Alexa Mini LF shooting ProRes will look meaningfully better than the C500, primarily because of the way that sensor resolves and handles roll-off. With that said, if I had $32k, I’d buy two C500iis over 1/2 of an Alexa Mini LF.
@creativeorstrange4 жыл бұрын
I gave you a like, because I appreciate you more than you will ever know😀. Some people have stated they have found the 6k raw noisier than the c200 before applying any post-production, have you found this to be the case?
@AnchorLineTV4 жыл бұрын
creativeorstrange I responded more articulately on the other video...So let me just say, it’s awesome that you are watching our videos, and thank you. - Quick answer here: The 6K RAW is noisy, but color correction and a light denoising will clean that up. The camera also performs best when it is overexposed by a stop or two...Just like the C200 when shooting in RAW.

Great video, maybe a stupid question, does the c500 at 4K full frame not raw better than the c200 or equally 4K raw? I’m trying to get the quality with the best file sizes. I doubt I need to shoot everything in 6k for Facebook ads lol but just wondering if it’s worth the upgrade. I love the c500 but I can’t see myself working with 6k raw files all day long. But if I get a similar look as the c200 with full frame and electronic stabilizer I would probably buy it. Trying to ask if I can get similar file size for full frame 4K in the c500 then the c200 4K raw. Cause I imagine raw is raw ans since this is a 6k sensor it would record in 6k which would double the size even if I just wanted to down sample it at 4K right ?
@AnchorLineTV4 жыл бұрын
@chris, you are right about RAW. It is a full sensor readout, so you can't do 4k RAW as the sensor is 6k. We wish you could do a "RAW" of 4k sampled from the 6k sensor, but it doesn't work that way. In your case, though, the internal codec is pretty good (much, MUCH better than the C200) and the 4k footage is downsampled from the 6k sensor, so it looks very sharp. We just saw an excellent video about this. We will link below. Honestly, if you have the $16k Vs the $6k, I'd buy this in a heartbeat.

The camera comes preloaded with certain LUTs, and they update those every once in awhile. If you have another LUT you would like to view you will have to use a monitor capable of working with imported LUTs as the C300ii doesn't allow for that. We hope that helps.
