There's the Guédelon Castle, being built using only period material and equipment. Now we have the Hermione. It's always nice to remember where you come from.

When a cannon boards a ship, it is no longer a cannon, It becomes a gun. Please land lubbers get that straight. You don't pull on a rope, you haul on a line. Except for a couple of instances, you dont call rope ... rope on a ship, It becomes a line. A lot of people joke about the French flying a white flag. That is the Battle Flag of the French. When it is raised, YOU ATTACK!!!

Superbe, 17th century frigate, possibly pre revolution, could have even help blockade ports during the American Revolution as help to Washington. Super cool, a piece of work too.

Looking at the comments here. It seems the Americans have forgotten a few things..... like France supported the Confederacy, our first war was with France, and we pulled France's chestnuts out of the fire in WW1 & WW2. We also financed the reconstruction of their economy. This is not a condemnation of France, but the low quality of American education.

I am amazed that private individuals are able to make an 18th century tall ship come to Life here in the 21st century... May this inspire the creation of many more such efforts to make such symbols of living history come to fruition.

Just looking at the rigging is giving me anxiety. I own a small cutter rig sailing yacht and those three sails and the few lines attached to them already annoy me. How the hell do you keep track of what rope goes where?!

When I was eight yrs old I lived in Rocheford, France and I remember a similar bridge to the one on the video that lead to another town called Soulac-Sur-Mer. I was told that it had collapsed. Remember I was eight yrs old and I am 77yrs old. Is this the same place?

An amazing replica that is sailing the oceans today. What is really amazing though is that the modern Hermione took 17 years from commencement to launch, built with all the modern power tools and cranes, yet the original was built in ONE year!
