Hey bro just to let you know something about using the soft pad and this is my report. When i was playing on the soft pad as a no option for a hand controller when i was young at a certain point; with no other choice i started grinding and i had no thought about using anything as a bar. I was desperate 😅. After about a month or 2, i got to an arcade and had realized that i could play no bar way easier. Nothing crazy but it felt like simple math 😂

I only knew how to tackle it after watching people like Chris4Life play it. I play both PIU and DDR on the LTEKs. It definitely made me a better player in terms of getting to higher difficulties. Totally worth the money if you plan on doing it often. And idk if it's just a thing, but the Gold cab at my arcade...I'm not too fond of it. The pad FEELS inconsistent with the hits, but I really can't tell if it's me or not and that's the thing that annoys me the most. With the white cab, if I missed, I know if I messed up or the machine isn't in a great shape.

I've dropped so many holds on the gold cab and I'm literally putting all my weight I can on the buttons its ridiculous, I am over 250lbs at the moment so I can't imagine someone 100lbs playing on this cab having any holds complete lmao I like because the gold cab has a bigger screen, but I don't like that its not angled like I am used to playing for so many years (I even have my LTEK Setup area have my screen at an angle... its just so much better for some reason)

@@DietDietRevolution I've never seen your channel/videos before, so I had no idea what the video was going to be about. (I assume KZbin suggested it to me, because I used to play DDR, and still watch related videos to it, occasionally.) Apparently you also play DDR "normally", and not just on a controller, but that wasn't easy to deduce, since you didn't outright state it at the start of the video. (Here's a tip for going viral: every video is someone's first video, so it pays to do a recap or some sort of explanation at the start.) So I was confused (and bored) for the first 4 minutes; "Is this guy really going on about playing on a controller? That's not the right way to play! And what is so cool or even "RIDICULOUS" about that??" And I'm not trying to be mean, or anything - I even watched the whole video in the end - but hoping for this kind of video to go viral, is just silly. You need something way more catchy, something easy to understand and enjoy. And of course: get lucky with the algorithm. The concept of losing weight by playing DDR is decent - however, I think you'd need to show some sort of dramatic, personal changes upfront. Like, "look how fat I was, before I started playing?!" I don't think I'll be sticking around, but good luck with the channel and your project! Making KZbin videos is an interesting hobby - one that we share - and I know it's not easy to find your niche.

Almost kindred spirit lol. I only owned Max 2 and Extreme as a kid, no regular arcade experience or ITG. By some virtue I learned how to use the controller, but I was only using the right side lmao. Thought to treat it like the pad I guess. Once I had a family friend visit the house, and the mf installed Stepmania on my desktop, along with showing me I could use both sides of the controller 🫠 Somehow I much preferred my own games over Stepmania though. I was hooked on conquering Heavy with my thumbs while I was stuck on Light with my feet. Eventually my foam pad's down arrow crapped out, parents couldn't get a new pad, and I just played exclusively controller almost daily. Until I unfortunately got bored of DDR (meaning my peers were over it real quick and I never bothered to explore the game again.) I went through a PIU phase in my first years in college and got kinda decent because of my previous PS2 experience (like DDR 11s-easy 13s, similar enough to PIU 10s-12s for comparison?) Found another soft pad along the way, BUT I only learned how to mod it into a solid surface during Covid a decade later. Then I was really back to learning and playing this game "properly." Ofc I rebuilt a proper PS2 empire and bought most of the major 2000s games I missed out on 😂 The satisfaction of booting up and scrolling the song wheels never gets old. Now in retrospect, I love them all, but Max 2 is probably the best of the home releases. Song diversity, bomb licenses, and not too complicated with the extra game modes introduced in US Extreme onward. Pureee 00s nostalgia 🥹 I still wish we got Japan's home version of Extreme instead, the childhood experience would've been unstoppable haha

@@unknowndeoxys00 At the beginning of me playing on controller I thought I was one of few, but after seeing PSP Revolution I understood that the only way that game could exist is if other people also played the game that way. Now a bunch of people either on discord or here on KZbin talk about how they also played DDR with a controller which is WILD to me aha The first time I installed StepMania I wasn’t liking it all that much, I still ended up buying Super Nova for the PS2 It wasn’t until I found out about themes, and being able to chart songs myself, that I fell in love with StepMania Max 2 is in my opinion the best of the series for console. Maxx Unlimited in my opinion is a perfect “hard” song because of the chart and song becoming one with each other and not doing anything crazy (I feel like newer DDR boss songs have ridiculously hard stuff in them just for the sake of being hard… Maxx Unlimited was hard without making you do insane crossovers and high BPM and actually flowed perfectly with the song) I’ve owned only a few PS2 titles but i’ve watched videos and stuff of the other titles and I really believe Max2 was perfection (I mean using the PlayStation eye on extreme was… different LOL) Appreciate your comment! love reading/hearing about people’s DDR journeys 😊

@DietDietRevolution Absolutely with Max 2. I sometimes wish it had 1 or 2 more boss songs to round it out, but Maxx Unlimited at the time it came out must have been wild for players. That's a big difficulty jump from Max 300 😂 I personally haven't gotten to the 15s-16s yet. But I had the unimitable satisfaction of finally beating SO DEEP on pad 4 years ago. Literally my favorite Max 2 song, only ever beat on controller, until that day. I may never get the chance to do it on an OG arcade cab, but doing it on the OG PS2 game was the next best thing. My inner kid got a major fist bump after that 😭

I did the same thing, at a convention, but with DDRMax. That’s when I fought Max300 for the first time as it’s extra stage. I made the mistake for setting the scroll speed to 3X making myself lose pretty early, instead should have set it to 1.5X. At the time I was REALLY good at Friday Night Funkin. Where one uses the keyboard to press the arrows. Either the arrows on your keyboard, or the meta, which is DFJK. But I think one could use a PS2 controller too. In fact there is supposed to be an original PlayStation release of FNF that’s supposed to come out in the next year or so, which is an insane surprise. But back to the topic, 2.25 years later after I encountered Max300, I managed to beat it at a Dave & Buster’s. And then in October, I was on a birthday trip, I went into a Round1 Arcade, and managed to beat Max300 again, but then beat The Legend of Max. Later on when I went to another convention, somehow some way, I beat Paranoia Survivor, Paranoia Survivor Max Expert Chart with Mirror setting (basically same chart but longer and extended ending), and Maxx Unlimited, my first 16, as well as a couple more 15s like Finale Challenge, Paranoia Kcet Challenge, and Night of Nights Expert. And then there was the realization that I almost got an A Rank on Max300 by 690 points (a huge “f*** you” moment lmao). And then the following attempt I got a -13, and surpassed 835K points, securing the A Rank. Also, 1999, you either got 2nd mix or 3rd mix.

The sequel, Hottest Party 2, allowed you to change the speed of the arrows, but it was based on the DDRMAX - SuperNova 2 era of speed mods (1x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x). DDR Hottest Party 3, 2010 (Wii) and DDR II would extend this further and add the .5x speed modifiers from the DDR X series, the Reverse arrow option, and the other arrow colors as well (Note, Rainbow, Flat). Also, Marvelous is turned off by default, so you can turn it on in the settings. In DDR II, Marvelous is turned on by default. Also try Dance Dance Revolution II on the Wii, it's without a doubt, the best game in the DDR Hottest Party series. Has a lot of X2 songs, and a good amount of amount of songs that would make it to DDR X3, DDR 2013-2014, and some made to A3 with new charts too (Like (Surrender PureFocus remix)

ha that’s really funny to hear! while i’m being light on my feet on the ltek you’re relearning to press the arcade buttons harder 😂 The corner brackets actually help me a lot which is crazy because they probably weren’t intended for that purpose but they really helped me not look at the screen. Few times playing on my LTEK i would look down to see my foot positioning to “cheat hands” or as people call it today “bracketing” because honestly when it comes to doing that technique i really have to look down VS the arcade where i know exactly where my foot is
