this was adorable - Edinburgh is firmly on my bucket list! Also girl you articulate yourself so well - I completely understand the feeling of sacrificing your life back home to live abroad, it’s an inner conflict for me too. We have to remember we are still so young and have so much more to see. If the relationships back home are worth their weight they will await us there!

I've watched this twice, and with tears. Edinburgh is a fantastic city that I know and love very well. It is indeed magical and it is painful to leave. It is great that you did not focus solely on the Royal Mile/Princes Street areas, which everyone else has covered. The area of the bookshop and Royal Botanic Gardens is Inverleith, which is adjacent to Canonmills (named so as it was originally the mill area of the canons of Holyrood Abbey, now a ruin adjacent to the Palace of Holyrood House at the bottom of the Royal Mile). For your next visit, consider this walk, which is a fabulous day out. Get a map and follow - it is so easy and not very long: Moray Place > Ainslie Place > Randolph Crescent (the long consecutive stretch of Georgian architecture in the world) > Queensferry Road. Turn right and go to Belford Road (a look out from both sides of Dean Bridge looking down on Dean Village and toward Stockbridge village is a must-do). Bell's Brae will take you do Dean Village, but don't take that, get on Belford Road and follow that past wonderul Belford Mews until you reach the Gallery of Modern Art (aka Modern One; Modern Two is across the street). There is a fine cafe and gift shop. If the weather is nice, eat outside. From there, take the steps out back of Modern One down to the Water of Leith. This is the small river you saw in Dean Village and Canonmills.Go left to Dean Village. Then Dean Village to Stockbridge, where there is great shopping and eats on both sides, though also see Circus Lane and St. Stephen Street. From there, get back on the water trail via steps along the side of the clock-towered building (a nice pizz place) on the bridge. Walk to Glenogle Road, a series of short deadend streets (they stop at the river) where those living on the gound floor enter from one side, while those living upstairs enter from the other. Each has their own private wee garden, which is rare in the city. From there you can walk to the end of the road to get to Canonmills. Go back to Arboretum Way, which leads up to the visitor centre (shop, eats etc. of the Botanic Gardens). Of course at any point you can simply head back up the hill to the city centre through the New Town, with its fabulous Georgian streets, communal gardens and cobbletone streets. Check out also The Shore at Leith, Portobello/Joppa (village, promenade and some wonderful residential streets), and Cramond. These are all seafront communities and are very different from each other. The Meadows (minutes walk from the Royal Mile; lunch at Victor Hugo's), Bruntsfield and Morningside are also, like Stockbridge, great places for indie shops and each as well as some fabulous residential streets. As for fearing leaving relationships behind while you search out new ones, never fear that. A year in Edinburgh will transform your life. Not only will you make new friends and experience new things, you will at some point be able to share you experience with your friends back home, hopefully inspiring them to stretch a bit and explore life as you are doing. A long note, though hopefully you will make some notes to inform your next visit. You are wonderful. Like me, you are a soul wandering. Which reminds me, there is a great Paul Weller tune of that very name. Cheers!

When I was in Bath couple of months ago, on a gloomy day, took an open tour bus as it drove through the town, dashing against the tree branches as it got chillier in the evening, wind blowing, aaahhh such an amazing place. The uniformly beige colored buildings have captured a moment in time and it is at a standstill. A safe haven for the Romantics.

Glad you had a great time here, i live 30/40 min north from Bath and id kill to live there, but its sooo expensive! You need to see Bath at christmas 🎄 the markets busy but amazing. Just a quick fyi now- i could be wrong, but i'm 99.999 % sure you had RAREBIT not rabbit ....The pump rooms menu calls it "chedder rarebit with a spiced onion cutney." Rarebit or Welsh rabbit is a dish of hot cheese sauce, often including ale, mustard, or Worcestershire sauce, served on toasted bread. The origins of the name are unknown, though the earliest recorded use is 1725 '-- In reality its just fancy cheese on toast 😋 no bunnys were harmed lol
@savannahhgaleАй бұрын
oh my gosh that makes complete sense HAHA i was wondering why the texture of the "rabbit" was so different from any meat I had ever had before!! now i can live a little easier knowing i didn't eat a bunny rabbit
