This is a masterpiece. Dritan, you've done a great job telling the story of an Albanian hero. Beautiful country, beautiful culture. Can't wait to visit Tepelena if the condition allows. Salut from Terengganu, Malaysia.

@@Shqiptari3 Oh, my bad. I didn't know that. Is this true? Is this some kind of internal Albanian rivalry between areas? Tell me more
@Shqiptari33 жыл бұрын
@@AKseorangmanusia nowadays not so much. but still the ones in the south think we are backwards savages because we were tribal people and because we were known to be followers of the kanun which is an old codex and we in the north think the ones in the south are unmanly because they wear skirts and have a feminin accent we also think that they arent pure albanians since mixing with other cultures was forbidden for us but practiced regularly in the south also before islamization we were catholic Christians and the ones in the south were orthodox Christians . so yeah there is still a rivalry but not a hatred anymore :)

It is difficult to translate this song in English, if not impossible. Why? Because not to seem impolite, the the English language being an Anglosaxon if not barbarian language then lets say new-school. While the Albanian language being much older it has certain qualities that make it not only difficult to translate but also beautiful. The beauty of it lies in the flexibility of the words. What i mean is that the same word can be turned from a noun into a verb, into an adjective etc by simply adding a vowel at the end of the word. This play of flexibility is unique to Albanian language and can only be compared to the Italian language which exhibits similar flexibility. In simple terms, the language DANCES, the same as the music, it becomes part of the dance. The song the dance and the words merge as one. I will not count the greek language in this company because the greek language is a construct by germans in the 1800s and we all know how the modern greek country was formed (by german philo-helenes) and it sounds to me artificial. So to illustrate here, the word Flake meaning Flame, is used here as both noun Flake, and flakeroi, which means roughly "has taken flame", but instead of the english language, using three words to describe one verb (and which in turn completely ruins the rhyme) flakeroi enters the song light in its feet because ending with a vowel, it becomes so to speak part of the song Anyway i hope i gave people some insight into this song that is at the same time a good representation of the culture as a whole. Note here that this is the Southern Albanian culture which is unique to these mountains Laberia. the Gheg culture is much more different and it has not so many vowels, and also it does not have the same sweetness as the dialect of the south, at least not to me personally. Also there is a lot of things going on in this song apart from the melody etc, but i won't get into that just now.

You know nothing about the Greek language. Today's Greek is the natural 2000 year old continuation of ancient Greek. Europe's oldest language, spoken non stop for over 5000 years (first records of Greek civilization). After our liberation from Ottomans, Greek intellectuals tried "cleansing" the language from Turkish words by synthesizing words from Ancient Greek. This new form of language was called Katharévousa, but was used only for formal documents and until the 1970s. All this time, Greeks talked and used the natural Demotic language which is the continuation from Ancient to Byzantine to today's Greek, with the same alphabet, grammar & syntax. What "Greek language created by Germans" are you talking about? When you don't have a clue about something, don't talk about it like being an expert, because it makes you look like a bigger idiot than you already are.
