I have seen the students' works from each year's showreel on Vimeo, and I have a few questions about the workflow: Do students typically use a model sheet to create their creature models, or do they work from a single reference image? When it comes to modeling, do students start in Maya and later add details in ZBrush, or is the entire sculpting process done solely in ZBrush? I'm currently learning character modeling in college, and understanding this will help me prepare better for the program. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.

Hi Kristian. Thank you for this tutorial. Looks like a setup that works really well for a custom toon shader for Redshift. I am having a tough time figuring out how to connect the light itself to the decomposeMatrix1 node for the shader to work with the link and for the shadows to work (I think you mentioned it is connected to it in the original approach video up to maya 2020). Would you by any chance have a test scene I can download for educational purposes only to better understand the setup? (Up to Maya 2020). Would be kindly appreciated. Many thanks.

How do you get the lattice planes to be invisible when you go to render in Arnold? I am following your method of using lattice deformers for the 2D face but the lattice deformers are causing the planes to not be transparent in Arnold render. Could you please help me? Also, really wonderful and informative video!!! 😊
@KristianHowald2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. You can select the lattice and then hide them with the “h” key. Another thing to look at is to make sure the planes aren’t casting shadows. This is located on the shape node, under the render stats.
@serenishere73722 жыл бұрын
@@KristianHowald thank you!!! I actually took a look at your video about making nodes in Maya for the animated textures and it helped a lot! 👍😌 The Lattices are now see through on Arnold render. This is of great help to my teams student film at DigiPen institute of technology! Thanks a lot!
