Does this upgrade leave a slight whirring noise coming from the R6 bearing? Wondering if it’s normal or I got a dud spare part.
@definitivepepper3 ай бұрын
Getting ready to do this to my '81 CB750C. Does this mod require draining the oil? Want to make sure I have everything I need before I start.
@piggadawiggada2 ай бұрын
Yes you will need to drop the oil. Also advisable to get rid of any oil remnants on the sprag threads, use the proper loctite cleaning agent before applying the loctite.

Do you think an R6 starter clutch would fit a cb750k (soch)?
@ujmrider6 ай бұрын
This is awesome. I'm going to try it on my 1980 GL1100 which is now making that noise you accurately duplicated for us twice😂 Ya, its embarrassing. I won't know for sure until I get into it, but i think Honda used the same starter clutch on a bunch of bikes, so my chances are good....

Did you have to change cables to put on those bars?
@Exit39gmail8 ай бұрын
Those bars came with the bike. I powdercoated them black. The cables were on it already. Sorry I can't help you with that.

I bought the exact same bike in December in Wisconsin and had it shipped to Hawaii. I'll receive it by the end of this week. Same color and year. I'm not really a purple fan but I want to keep it as original as possible so I think I'll leave it as it is. I'd like to get it looking as good as yours here. Bought it as-is and since it had a bad battery I couldn't start it so I took a chance. Hoping it will only need the basics (carbs, etc). Eventually I'll sell it but I intend to put a few miles on it first. I hope they have gone up in value since you sold yours. I'll have more than $2500 into it by the time I'm done (shipping was pricey).

I did also just two months ago. Not running but it looks like it was complete, original and in decent condition. My problem was having to ship it to Hawaii from Wisconsin. I'll finally have it later this week. May I ask how much you paid and what is it's condition? Got mine for $900 but shipping was about $1500 more.

I was ready to order this but I don't see how this will fix the thread issue. You're still using threads, except now it's 6 bolts that could potentially fail. Besides having more bearings for possibly a smoother start. There's still a very good chance you'll have to reopen this if you didn't clean the threads right.
@Exit39gmail Жыл бұрын
Aside from the sprag being a better design, more bolts lessen the torque load on the assembly. Think of it like a 4 lug nut wheel being swapped for a 5 or 6 lug. Personally, I have not see this design fail yet.

I bought one of these new back when they came out in 82. It was way ahead of its time, the V4 was incredible compared to anything else on the market. I owned several Magna's in the 80's, but that color! It made that bike pop! Candy maroon. Currently own a 1986 Magna 700, black.....just might have it painted Candy maroon some day.

Beautiful bike! It brought back a lot of fond memories for me when I owned one. At the time I had a 1982 Kawasaki 440 LTD. They were just coming out with commercials promoting the new 1982 Honda Magna V65 as the white-knuckle muscle bike that was the king of the hill. I wanted to check one out in person and went to the dealership. I was a little disappointed that because of my size, I was a little too short for one. So instead, I opted for the V45 version which fit me perfectly with its lower seating. I took it out for a test spin and couldn't stop grinning when I came back to the dealership. I was bitten. I had to have it and so I traded in my Kawasaki for it. The V45 version was just as beautiful as the V65 and still had quite a bit of muscle all of its own during that time. I also liked the low maintenance shaft drive. I hated that they had to lower the horsepower on the later models from 750cc to 700cc due to the trade tariffs between Harley Davidson and Japan to keep them competitive price wise.

Did you just put mufflers on or did you do the whole thing? Because if you just did mufflers then you still have a lot of room for improvement!! With sound and HP! I'm watching on my phone so I can't get nowhere near the full effect of the exhaust. But what I'm getting at is basically the factory coffee can cats!!! Those things are so restrictive and just flat junk!!! If you haven't already ditch the cats and pipes!!! (except mufflers obviously) get a good intermediate pipe with Xpipe and modern cats!!! And oh baby you'll notice a big difference!! I have single chambered Flowmaster super 10s along with full custom system and headers and it sounds absolutely beautiful!!
@Exit39gmail Жыл бұрын
It's a full "chambered" system from the headers back. No cats, no mufflers.
@C4VETTELT1 Жыл бұрын
@Scott Chapman perfect! Then you got no restrictions!! I'm glad you put chambered system on!! That's why I couldn't tell! If it was straight pipe everything then I'd be able to tell! They sound raspy and shitty!!! I don't like that raspy sound of a complete straight through exhaust system. 👍👍👍👍 very nice work!!! I actually listened to it again on my home theater system and it kinda has a raspy but throaty sound to it. Sounds a Lil different than I'm used to but I like it!!

Scott did you use the yamaha 5SL-15590-00-00 or aftermarket, i have aftermarket and the bearing will not fit the hub cb900c also have a spare hub same thing, i also noticed that drilling the six holes in the flange has to be spot on if not the brass bushing in the center of the hub will wear out.... i drilled the holes to 3/8th...at least five thou will have to be taken off the hub flange, to get the bearing to fit...
Hey Scott, wicked looking bike you've got there! Question for you, did you paint the whitewalls? If so, what did you use and did you seal them after with a clearcoat? Thanks man!
@Exit39gmail Жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew. I appreciate the compliment. I sold this bike many years ago. But to answer your question I used elastomeric roofers paint. Depending on the tire brand it can yellow, tan or gray with time. But that just adds to the vintage appeal.

Your personal thoughts on the system for somebody that’s considering getting one?
@Exit39gmail2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert; thanks for commenting. I personally love the system! I grew up around hot rods and 60s/70s muscle cars. I like hearing and feeling an engine. This system is designed and hand welded by Ryan, the owner of HighFlo. I have long tube headers so I had to work with him by phone to customize the inlets. If your car is stock, the system he lists on the site will work. Now, I don't notice this droning everyone worries about with any exhaust mods. But then, I love the deep and throaty sound of a performance exhaust. It reminds me of driving older cars before catalytic converters and silencer mufflers. It is not raspy, it is mildly loud and sounds great in my opinion. I always recommend you call Ryan at HighFlo and discuss anything and everything with him prior to purchase. If you're like me, you will love it!
