Design question. Why did you choose to use 2 cane end caps instead of extending the center one and just using 1?

Is it possible to make it out of wood
@maestrodmc
@maestrodmc Жыл бұрын
I suppose yes. I would start with a pair of wooden crutches and improvise. If you mean out of wood, from scratch ( not using deconstructed crutches) yes also. But it would take a lot more work and skill.

I've tied crescent wrenched to string to get a straight line. The whole point of the plumb is the point. Way too much hassle, and after trying that method that centers the line, it loosens too easily then you get to hassle with it all over again. Waste of time, and lots of frustration, get a better plumb somewhere else.

Looking at photos of gorillas, they have a bit of an upright stance on all fours. So whichever length one makes those crutches, it would be best to make them such that the total length of the arm & crutch, is longer than one's legs.

The right way. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4Pan4eod9CMoKM Dude tying it this way produces a slight lean in the Bob because of the way they drilled the tie holes. if you use it this way your transfer mark will be off.... especially at a distance. Because even if it's hard to see by eye there will be a cant in the Bob because of the anchor force applied to the side hole. The RIGHT WAY to tie this one is to fish the string through the hole then....on the side hole side of the string.... tie an overhand knot (square knot, shoelace start knot) at the end of the string about 6 inches from the end. Then tie another knot on top of it and then one more on top of that. Pull it through the hole with the string centered as best as you can get it and check to see if your fat knot catches closer to the top of the bob.... if not then pull it back out to the side with your 6 inch tail end and tie another knot on top of the others to make it bigger. Then pull from the side to the top of the Bob and it should be getting stuck in the drilled hole closer to the top of the Bob than the side. Once you have it getting stuck in the top portion of the drilled channel you then give it a few tugs in the direction it needs in order for the string to be coming out of the top of the bobs top hole without it touching the sides. The string should be floating centered as best as possible in order for it to be accurate. If the string is touching the side of the top drill hole...pull it back out through the side and try to seat it again in a better orientation. Once you have it stuck in the hole, near the top of the Bob and the string is floating in the center, not touching the walls of the hole then you're done. Leave 3 inches of string hanging out the side hole in case you need to adjust it in the future and you should be golden! You NEED TO tie it this way if you are using the pointed end to transfer marks or find position or the pointer will be off. If your just using it as a weight for a straight string line then you can tie it like you did in the video cuz it doesn't matter but if you need to use the point then you need to tie knots on top of each other until the knot is big enough to move through the channel but also gets stuck before pulling through the top hole of the Bob. I hope that helps someone.

Yes! Thank you! I bought one from HF some time ago and never needed it until now. I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to figure out how to get it to hang straight until I gave up and Googled it. Yours was the first hit and was the simple solution that I failed to find for myself.

I wish I could have heard that conversation between the Sheriffs Deputies and the BLM protesters. “ Um deputy?” “ After assaulting, cussing at you and protesting to defund you all day, I’m ready to go home now.” “ Could you please gather more deputies and escort us to our cars.” “It seems that we have pissed off the town and we are in fear of our safety.”

How much money do you think these could be commissioned for? I haven't quite built up a full set of tools this requires. They look cheap enough for the materials, but I'm thinking it requires a little expertise to craft.
