You. Are. Amazing. Those pages were so incredibly detailed and I'm not surprised you got so many job offers. I'm literally holding a Wildcats issue right now, and your drawings were really on-model.

"You're not a kid, kids draw comics" what was that supposed to mean, you do realize that just about every artist working at Marvel/DC, etc are adults right? I'm not sure I understand what the point of this video was, what seemed like a piece of good advice at first is turning into gatekeeping people from making comics just because their "reasons" are different from yours. You don't need any reason whatsoever to create, there is no right or wrong way to make a comic or any other form of art for that matter, no need to shame people into not creating just because they don't have the same goals as you do.

I was a storyteller and drew since childhood but initially wanted to write books or animate. I needed a visual medium and given that I was poor in an equally poor neighborhood so my access to... everything... was limited. Comics are a visual storytelling medium that anyone can make with a pencil and paper, so I've been making them ever since. They're my passion now.

Make characters that I never seen. As a African American. I been given characters that where not real to me. Drug and thugs are like the 1% out of 50 people I know if that. never get the black scientist that not some dork weak social malfunctions. Stories that move me to be better and to push my concepts of life, science and Devine.

100% About the agenda. Every movie, every TV show, every book, every comic has an agenda. Some don't, but those are produced as a cheap commodity and will be the first to be forgotten (or ppl will see no value on those, already) by the audience, specially in these times of AI and the tons of generative content flooding internet. I'd say now it (the political preaching) is happening more than some decades ago. And I agree with the importance of telling a powerful story.

I can tell you why I make comics right now. It's because I like to and because it's fun. It gives me a great amount of satisfaction to pull together various thoughts and ideas in my head (no matter how wild they are) and pull them together into something that can be followed. If I were on an island all by myself with no amount of money to be gained or reputation to be earned, I would still be making comics.

I agree about the spirit with "secret agenda" but not so much with the wording, I'd say that there needs to be something real behind the story, there's a connection between the story and something greater, but there's a difference between making propaganda and art. what is the different between the two? I dunno, but I've heard a few things, that the difference lies in the freedom of the reader for interpretation, that there's not only one possible meaning.

How do you reach your deadlines if it took 2 weeks to finish 4 pages? I don't mean that in a rude way; it's just surprising because of how most comics only get one month for completion.

I definitely would not have been able to make a comic that slow. I was still a teenager and most of the time was spent reworking anatomy over and over to get it just right.

for those who haven't read any of it, it's an interesting half comedic twist on the 50's classic monster movies but coming from a more personal character angle that goes deeper into narrative misteries and revelations, the art top digital goodness with the feel of those great black and white movies. I recommend it very much ;D

I’m not in a season where I can invest in my comic’s process, but I am very much looking forward to taking your class when I’m able. In some ways I would rather pay full price when I’ve got the funds! Currently I’m struggling with the writing stage, so hopefully this concept can reveal some weak points in my plotting. I have this weird mix of mini-arcs and grand arcs that I have to balance due to my comic format being episodic. I try to avoid having nothing productive happen in an issue, but at times it’s difficult! Getting from point A to point Z has to be fun and engaging in the middle somehow!!
