I think the ultimate problem with the van is size. It's hard to create the void in there to pack them in unless it's a big toy or lacks complexity to accommodate it. I thought about it myself, it's not like you can't see Laserbeak and Ratbat inside A. Soundwave either, but pulling it off, especially now. Tough. Probably could have been done during Armada ~ Classics when the design philosophies were different.

Magna Convoy, the blue and black inner robot, is a redeco we don't get enough. It's really cool and has its own distinct identity as a deco.

There kinda was a Soundwave from that particular mold: Shattered Glass "Sir Soundwave". It was a convention exclusive, though, and like just about all the SG figures from then, a much more creative idea than the drivel Hasbruh shoveled out recently (the only good ones of the current SG figures are Jetfire, Hot Rod, & Sideswipe).

There are a couple questions here and I'll do my best to answer them all. * Why does Soundwave need to be changed? Because it's ridiculously out of date and unrelatable to anyone born in the last 25 years. Even if we extend that to 35 years, it's only a faint memory. Soundwave most as well turn into a rock now. Furthermore, the brand should be kept fresh, original and exciting rather than regurgitating the same stuff from 40 years ago. A religious devotion to the past is how you end up becoming Masters of the Universe or GI Joe. A brand that will die with the bulk of the original fans. Originality is how you get new audiences and keep things alive. Producing product with something new to offer like BW, Armada, 07 and to a lesser extent, Car Robots. * When was the last time you've seen a VW Beetle, Microscope or Space Shuttle? VW Beetles were only fully discontinued 5 years ago and Nissan produces a similar car. Not only that, but Bumblebee has been a wide variety of cars since 1995, from sports cars to little hatch backs. Microscopes are still used, barely changed and Perceptor isn't a prominent character brand wide. I'm not sure who you're referring to with Space Shuttle, my mind goes to Armada Jetfire, but Space Shuttles are still used and have a rule of cool to them. If you mean Astrotrain, he too isn't a prominent character brand wide, Trains only work in Japan and he has been updated to be a Bullet Train before. If anything, research needs to be done into what is the most universally used train and that used as a base for what Astrotrain should be.

It doesn't. And Hasbro has no real intentions of changing it either. G1 Soundwave will always be a Microcassette player. Other versions that aren't G1 tend to have different alt modes or if they are G1 inspired they might not transform at all (Cyberverse for instance).

Oh yeah, they are charming. So was Extreme Dinosaurs. However, if I'm revisiting any of these early 90s animal franchises, I think it'd be Biker Mice from Mars. Had all three and TMNT, but Biker Mice was the thing to stick with me as just a thing I really liked.

Judging from what gets shelf space, I bet it's a byproduct of audience + turnover. What moves best? Yeah, adults buy more toys than kids, but what is the volume? There is crucial data being withheld from that news point that would say a lot as to the behaviour of stores and manufacturers. Mattel has said some things that line up with Hasbro's behaviour as of late.

Yeah, ours use the name and logo, but are entirely unconnected. Same goes for Target, who is owned by the same company. Target is dying here, while Kmart is thriving. If you find a brand called Anko, it's actually licenced from Kmart Australia.

I'd rather Hasbro not remake the cartoon. I don't trust them or today's writers to do anything good with it. Make something new and let it be the usual crap they produce instead :D

@@SGD_ToysDownUnder duel masters can usually get away with it since they can use any card as a resource, thus meaning the character theoretically has a choice to make on their first turn instead of “what color land am I going to play first”

@someperson46 Scripting shows shouldn't be done for realism, but for drama and selling the game to the audience.

Trailer also adds a lot to the presence of the vehicle mode. It may be just a box in many cases, but it's a box that makes him look complete and big. That space it takes up makes a massive visual difference.

@@SGD_ToysDownUnder yes, I think Trailer must return as a play value set and also a part of Optimus core being: he was repaired and turn into the ultimate soldier, if we use the logic of the original tech spec you only could kill Prime if you destroy roller, Optimus and trailer. And that's such a cool concept. Imagine having Optimus body being fixed by the medic team and having Rollers and trailer commanding the army on the field, that would be hilarious.

@@DavidSilva-mn4dz There is a lot of really cool stuff in those original file cards that has barely been touched and would make great things to draw from. Truth be told, I've never looked into Prime's file card enough to notice that and yeah, it's got a lot of potential. A major Achillies Heel to what would otherwise be an overpowered character.
