Thank you for this, very informative, the stroke I suffered has left me with hypersensitivity in one hand rather than a complete lack of sensation. Do you have a therapy that could help with this ? Thanks

Thank you for your comment. One thought would be to desensitize your hand by performing the brushing, TENS glove, and weight-bearing activities.

How much intensity should be?
@StrokeOT Жыл бұрын
We didn’t specify the exact intensity because it is different for each person. We turned up the intensity enough to elicit the movement without discomfort

Thank you! I broke my hand and it’s too cold to go without socks, but I hate trying to get them on. I’ll have to this tomorrow. My socks are too small for one of those sock devices and they also look like a pain to use with one hand. Never realized how inaccessible socks are til now.

Can I do this now I am 2 and half years of stroke..
@StrokeOT2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for asking a great question! Yes, weight-bearing exercises like these can help reduce spasticity (tightness) throughout your lifetime.

thank you for these ideas. there is not a lot out there on this topic. One question- Why do you do deep strokes specifically with the palm up and then light quick stroked in palm down position?
@carolynbrown6086 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and for your comment!The deep strokes of the brush on the “flexor” side of the arm also have a neuro-inhibitory affect on the tight, spastic muscles that sometimes cause too much flexion of the elbow/wrist/fingers. Whereas the quick strokes of the brush moving up the “extensor” side of the arm have a neuro-facilitatory affect on the muscles that extend the elbow/wrist/finger muscles. So the brushing not only improves sensation but it also helps to dampen or encourage muscle contraction.
