Nearly 99% of spanish speakers (where i make majority of my content) hate the word and thinks its racist. Others think its like an adventurous international living people. Scott alan miller and i have very strict definitions of it. I guess its a term nearly everyone has a different definition of it so it becomes convoluted and confusing IMO

I live in Ecuador and get conflicting reports on Manta's safety.The blackouts are the main issue right now. Tourism is down, so if you come, you'll have great access to guides, hotels, etc. I think its safe enough.

Since I travel by motorcycle, I'm limited in the type of equipment I can carry, unlike some KZbinrs who can stay in one place and invest in heavier, more expensive gear. My channel is all about sharing my personal experiences as well as those of other expats. I interview them and meet up with them every time I visit a new city to uncover the hidden gems in that specific area. generic doesn't sound well for me, however I am not english native (Poland). Also the channel suggests it's some kind of collective of movement and your content is based around your tavels so I'd choose something more individualistic and making sure people know it's about your travels

Mexico is of course an excellent option but I did most of my recent dental work in Arequipa, Peru. I think i needed around 6 or 7 fillings which took a few days of appointments but totally worth it and prices are pretty unbeatable. Are you planning to do some work in Monterrey?

I would agree that the vendors on the beach are not as bad here as they are in other countries. But oh man... in places like Salinas... there are SO MANY... you can't talk for 30 seconds before the next ones come. Some of the other beaches have almost none (usually the local beaches like you were here!)

I tend to go to mostly places ex-pats choose not to. Like the mercados where pretty much no one is going to try to speak English. Which is the best way to improve my spanish living here!

@maimiura Yes, true good point. If you're involved in politics or illegal activity especially in large, capital cities anywhere in Mexico, risks are VERY HIGH. Myself and my expat (mostly elderly) audience has nothing to worry about in Zihuatanejo (where the story took place) though

It's not Bat Beach, it's Murcielago Beach. Don't say "Bat Beach" to ecuadorians! It's just how gringo call it, i.e. the wrong way.

@juliebabin i speak spanish and when I talk to locals i say playa murcielago in spanish, however since most of my audience doesn't speak spanish i find it more appropriate to translate both words instead of just the beach part. I don't think i have more than a few Ecuadorian subscribers since most of my content is in English so leaving it in spanish doesnt make sense to me

Few notes. My gal owns MioMio on Playa Blanca. It's down from all the masses. Get down there by water taxi or 2 km walk. I always take a car from downtown. Never paid more than. 120.000 COP ($30 usd) each way. Money well spent. Just have to negotiate. It's an hour away so that's cheap imo. Your input is spot on...

@sebastiannietonarvaez8911 water is brought in by boat from Cartagena. Expensive so conserve like crazy. I've shut it off before when entitled women take 20 minute showers. Ridiculous. We also have reclaimed off roofs. Bottled, boiled and Brita for drinking. Electric is solar and big batteries i bought a few months ago. Generator is last resort. Same situation. Conserve at all costs.

I live there in winters. Made the mistake of spending July there. Never again. I couldn't even go outside between 10 am and 6 pm. Never felt that kind of heat and humidity in my life. But Jan thru March is awesome.

@@genERICexpats we have a child and could make it work but we think there are better places within Colombia to raise a family. My husband and I do talk about retiring to Cartagena. My mother-in-law is buried in Cartagena. It’s a special place for us.

@@DorainesCano-x8p just for some balance here- we had our wedding ceremony on Playa Blanca near the end of the beach (closer to the Decameron hotel) on the night of the Copa America soccer game when Colombia played Argentina in July. Nobody was on the Barú peninsula that night and it was so magical.

Eric! Great vid! We go to Cartagena every year for the last 5yrs and stay at least a month. We have stayed in Manga and also an Urb. called La Espanola close to the castle. Very local there. Haven’t stayed in Crespo yet. You are right that it doesn’t look very nice from a distance 😊. All the things you are saying are true about Cartagena. Even with the cons we still love going there. As I watched your video it made me miss the streets of the walled city 😢. Looking forward to more from your channel 🎉
