As soon as you recognize fear, your amygdala (small organ in the middle of your brain) goes to work. It alerts your nervous system, which sets your body's fear response into motion. Stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline are released. Your blood pressure and heart rate increase.

Emotions arise from activations of specialized neuronal populations in several parts of the cerebral cortex, notably the anterior cingulate, insula, ventromedial prefrontal, and subcortical structures, such as the amygdala, ventral striatum, putamen, caudate nucleus, and ventral tegmental area.

HI Jessica, I uploaded this for you. I hope you have time to watch it. I would love to see what you think. I couldn't help but think during dinner that point of view is so important in writing. Gilly, and Kimberly figured a way to include both points of view.

i think Deb should use the energy from her jealous feeling to propel herself into the manufacturing field where she will work hard, save all her money and buy up all the rubber ducky factories. Then anyone who wants to own a rubber ducky will have to go through her. She will not forget her friends when she is rich and famous. She will offer them jobs in the factory and for their Christmas bonuses, they will all get... rubber duckies

Kids are also often jealous of non-materialistic things like artistic or mathematical or writing talents or they may be jealous of the attention that a friend or sibling receives. I suppose this illustration of jealousy is more concrete and probably a good way to introduce it but I think that kids will also get the nonmaterial jealousy as well and it could be a good conversation to have in the conflict between monsters.

Most of my feelings are filtered through my heart. It's a busy heart. There are so many things Kids (we) can be jealous about: popular, smarter, artistic, funny . . . My only hesitation with the ducks is that the pics looked alike and may not hold littles' attention. Whereas with different subjects of jealously, there would be more to identify with and a variety of images. Love your Emotadude series.

Maybe Deb realized after a while that the yellow ducks are boring (they don't do much except float), so she notices a tube float and decides she had rather have that. Kids do change their minds/emotions on a dime. The feeling of jealousy fades away and Deb is happy with her choice.

I don’t think Deb’s jealousy should be reinforced by being given a duck. I taught my children that it is their responsibility to find a solution for their uncomfortable feelings. One solution my son once did was to offer to share one of his toys as a trade. It didn’t always work out, but it was a nice try.
