George change the last chord to something else because the 3rd chord has a maj. 7th which is a nice touch but the abruptness of the last chord doesn't help that nice 7th sound.

You can also just change the page size to fit the map. All geoboards are 8"x22" in size. Also, I'd recommend that you zoom in when creating the VASL PNG map file, because it captures it at screen resolution (typically 96dpi or something like that). Then you just Tile Large Pages when you go to print. Been doing it that way for a while now.

Hey George, not a Mac guy, PC/Windows guy through and through. 😁 I worked in server/super computer design (based on Intel x86 architecture) for a couple decades. I don't have a Dell, I'm also a PC gamer so I build my own PCs. I don't do laptops, the aren't powerful enough to do much, and become obsolete doorsteps in ~12 months. Laptops are also generally more expensive than a decent gaming PC. I should do a video about computers I guess. 😂

Regarding your counters, though the Planos seem to take up a lot of space, those GMT style trays will take up much more, unless ou start mixing counter types in each cell... But that will add confusion that you're trying to avoid by organising! If you have a 3D printer, make some counter trays like I did on my channel, it is the most space-efficient way to store counters by a long shot
@georgehiotis3 ай бұрын
Turns out that the 1/2 inch counters fit perfectly for each nationality that I own. The 5/8ths inch counters are a different story. For the Germans I managed to fit all the AFVs into two trays sorted according to gun caliber. Ultimately, I have managed to save some space for now compared to where I was before. I am not a fan of 3D storage for 2 reasons: a) strength, and b) cost. Thanks for the question, I'll do a part II - stay tuned.

Hi George, as ever, thank you for the instructive and very entertaining video on an important topic in the ASLSK-ASL graduation process :). Just two quick notes since a lot of new arrivals might watch this: Snap Shots: You don't get FFMO or FFNAM when using snap shots as per A8.15. So most shots will have no modifiers apart from leadership direction or SMOKE. Bypass Movement: In your example, the German infantry bypassing the woods might have gotten a nasty farewell present from one of the British squads! As per A4.34, potential defensive firers need only have LOS to EITHER of the vertexes traversed while bypassing, so the rightmost British squad could very likely have first fired for a whopping 4 down 2 shot (FFNAM and FFMO). So beware when bypassing that you are actually out of LOS! Keep it up and have a gerat Sunday, Michael

I used to have a great computer for the longest time 2014 to 2022 (roughly) on Win10. By 2023 the start button started to fail and I had to 'upgrade'. I can safely tell you that my present computer on Win 11 is a flop in terms of operating system and the hardware required to run it correctly. Microsoft has its ups and downs. We are on a down trend. 16:00 Today I learned that George is a Nickelback fan (right video list). 😂 Concerning SS counter colors, it's an old, tired argument. If people don't like it that's their right, but to have someone insinuate that you might be a N a z i because you play with black colored pieces of paper is one of the dumbest things I've heard in quite some time. How do these people feel about German counters with the SS logo on them? I guess that's acceptable. Anyway, I've always been curious why these same people don't get up in arms about the Japenese counters being yellow ...

However it's always been interesting to me the history of this game, and it is quite amazing that the game continues to carry on and it's thriving still today! It's going on 50 years! I always look at SL/ASL as "The Grand Daddy" of tactical style board war games. Even though I don't play it, I have great respect for the game and the community that supports it.👍Much respect from me!

George, thanks for uploading. I appreciate your very interesting comments. Rather enlightning. About the size of the Aussie championship trophy: I'm quite sure there's more to it than most people realize. 1) Aussies have in general a great humour. 2) The most important sports trophy Aussies cherish to win every two years is the "Ashes." It's the smallest sports trophy in the world and is only about 10 cm high plus a wooden base of about 5 cm. It's actually an urn containing ashes. England play Australia in a series of Cricket called in short the "Ashes." This has been going on for over 100 years. Winning that wee trophy is the non plus ultra for the English or Aussies. So size does matter 😂 It's only a question of perspective.

With over 18,000 views to date, it's certainly generated a lot of interest. The key point you miss is that the article is my personal piece on why I stopped playing - it's a blog, it's what you do. It's not a reason why anyone else should do so.

The premise seems flawed, the only thing that "validates" why ASL is 'a successful game' would be sales figures, and given that it is still on shelves in all its glory 40 years after its debut, I should think case closed. It's a treatise about why I chose not to play, not why you should. It's a blog, it's what people do. The premise is hardly flawed seeing as the premise is me and how I judge a game I want to play. In either case it is only ever just our opinion, in the same way it's just your opinion that the only thing that validates a successful game is sales figures.
