So imo the pros are brighter, you’ll have larger coverage with the pros over the sports, distance wise if you are looking for spots I would do like 3 spots in the middle and the the outers pros in either drive or combos. Nice video. I am in a huge quandary about whether to go with the Big Banger HXB Combo or BD LP6 Combo. I noticed you have the amber backlighting connected to the Morimoto and it looks really bright. Is it too bright? Seems like the LP6 has a more subtle or softer amber backlighting. Then again, there are no videos of the Big Banger backlight so you really can't tell.
@08pileggi10 ай бұрын
So the big banger has two settings of brightness for the amber, it is by far the brightest backlight over the lp6 and ss5. With the brightness at 100% function I will say night time driving it is distracting being on the pillars like I have, I have since swapped the drl to the lower setting and it is good and not to distracting. The lp6 is if I remember correctly 2 leds over the 6 or 7 in the hxb. The hxb combo has a TON of coverage with good distance, I do think the lp6 has a further spot beam just due to the optics. Depending on your style driving you do and how fast you drive both will be more than enough light. If slower driving the lp6 may create more of a center hotspot in turns or close proximity, the hxb with have a more even spread of light with a less intense hotspot. I did a video on the big banger and the ss5 I think? If you have Facebook or ig shoot me a message and I’ll send you pictures!

@08pileggi11 ай бұрын
So I have the ss3 pro and the ss5 does seem to have a better punch that the ss3. You will get more coverage just bc you have a lot more chips in the ss5 vs ss3. I do get wind noise with them being on the hood which the ss3 didn’t do. I might be able to work something up in the near future!

I do have a question though. I also have these lights but on A-pillars and I’m unsure on aiming . You have them in your regular fog light position right ? Is the from the flood lights under your headlight beam or did you put them in your headlight beam path . If that makes any sense
@08pileggi11 ай бұрын
So I added these as a fog light, the pockets I had I was unable to pop the holes out lol. But these are aimed lower than the headlight beam to help illuminate roughly 10-15 maybe 20 feet in front of the car for when road visibility is rough Now hood or a pillars I typically run the around a 1-2 degree up so I can get the most reach out of a spot beam, but it really comes down to how you see fit and where the light is needed to be for your style of driving you know
@mas92111 ай бұрын
it makes perfect sense that the SS5 "drive" is an oval Spot with no flood areas around the beam. the SS5 "Combo" lens would be closer to what the XHB combo looks like. but what ever, i prefer the oval spot as you called it more actually!
@08pileggi11 ай бұрын
The combo doesn’t have as much distance and didn’t feel like that would be a fair comparison, yes the light would look similar but performance wise I don’t think it would be fair

subbed! those are kinda more flood vs the Bigbanger HXB combo's which feel more spot.
@08pileggi11 ай бұрын
Thank you for the sub 🙌🏽.. the lp6s are a huge amount of light and do carry a lot more midfield coverage so they do seem like a flood, but they still have some good reach to them! The hxb have a more even light distribution (horizontal if you will )and that’s due to the tir optics and the different levels of beam patterns integrated into them.
@rajasekhar984011 ай бұрын
Nice comparision man, Your videos always help in making the buy decisions easy. It helped me for choosing SS3 4300K temp. Combo beam like Morimoto and use of HXB chips in Ss5 is what I'm looking forward from Diodedynamics guys. For now 1 Morimoto HXB combo with one Diodedynamics SS5 Pro in Driving beam seems to be a good Combo as the two beam patterns are different and SS5 adds a bit more light on the road rather than on the sides. And one more thing just have a look at Stedi Type X evo lights, you'll be blown away, really good value.

I switched to Sealight yellow led fog lights and kept my halogen lowbeams. I used to have led lowbeams on my last car and they caused a lot of glare and eye strain on dark roads. No definition of shadows on the road at all. With my new setup, the shadows pop out behind every bump and dip in the road. I will never drive with any other configuration. Such a joy and easy on the eyes. I have Sealight 6000K white led highbeams for punching way out into the distance when needed.

Thanks for this review. Is a drive light the same as a combo? One thing you need to do is stop your truck and turn off your headlights, then show the difference between the two lights. Also,Morimoto is more expensive than Diode Dynamics.
@08pileggi11 ай бұрын
I should have added the pictures to the end of the video! So in terms of this video they are both a driving style beam just called two different names. Yes the big banger is more expensive you are absolutely right but you also get a lot more coverage imo with that light over the ss5.. both lights do a great job with throwing light out there, it just comes down to personal preference when looking for light coverage
