There are many reasons for war. Shekhovtsov's domino theory js based only on the chain of events of Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine? And therefore can be extended to NATO countries? How can Ukraine reach it's primary goals?

Yes, I have a topic / question - we know why Russians join up, or are conscripted, we know about Russian propaganda, but something which is not discussed or, apparantly, studied, is why, when they get to the front, and not all of them are enthusiastic, do they fight so hard, fight to the death, do not, seemingly, give up, do not surrender en mass, and are prepared to die in " human wave " attacks. It's not 1914, why are ordinary Russians prepared to die, what do they think they are giving their lives for ?
@agn8559 ай бұрын
Conscripts - have to survive (even to surrender). And if your own ones are ordered to prevent people from going back even that might become a tough challenge. Volunteers - only get their blood money for the time they stay there. Simple. Patriots - think they’re doing the right thing - and prevent others from doing differently (see above). kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmLTgJSeppmHec0

The reason Russia is called a fascist regime is because Putin 's Russia IS a textbook fascist regime! This is not to say that there are not other kinds of evil regimes out there. But fascism is an ultranationalist imperialist expansionist ideology, that alludes to a lost 'greatness of the nation' and seeks to re-establish past empires by conquest and annexations of territory in order to restore this lost greatness. It is an anti-liberal ideology that persecutes the opposition and seeks to exert full control over the media. Mussolini wanted to restore the Roman Empire, Hitler wanted to restore the Third Reich and Putin wants to restore the soviet "sphere of interest" and likens himself to Peter the Great.

Personally, I think Mr Putin's war is a war of extreme racial prejudice, Russians are at war with those they consider unlike themselves, in WW II, both Hitler's Nazi Regime and Japan's imperial government were the same, the Japanese army of WW II deprecated all other races unlike them, Joseph Stalin's Soviet army was no better.
@simonkormendy849 Жыл бұрын
Well, the reason why Russians don't voice their disapproval of Mr Putin's war is quite simple, he imprisons those who speak out against him and his war for 15 years, also Russian troops that retreat are shot by their own comrades, Mr Putin is known to have killed his political opponents by poisoning them with Plutonium or Novichok, so it's little wonder that Russians act despondent.

@@ericwillis777 I'm having a hard time understanding where we are in disagreement.
@ericwillis77710 ай бұрын
Well, although you frame it as collective blame, that is perjorative, I would frame it as collective responsibility, and as such there is no blame because of the reasons I mentioned, and, don't forget, the various dicussions at national and international level, UN etc, it was hardly a deliberate attempt to circumvent democratic processes,, ( although I personally thought a lot of it was contrived ). The worst that can be said is that it didn't go as planned, even though Saddam was deposed. It also had ramifications for the legitimacy of other Arab dictatorships. So I don't think 'blame' is appropriate, that implies someone doing something deliberately knowing that it was the wrong thing to do, ie at fault. Many people didn't sgree with it, and because of our democratic process they share responsibility, but cannot be blamed because it was entirely reasonable to assume a different outcome. Accidents are only blamed on a party that knew, or should have known, better, or acted outside the appropriate laws, otherwise it's a 'no fault' accident. - Is that any clearer ?

One could count Putins regime as "revolutionary" as it aims for reestablishing old glory and at returning to the traditional values. The rhetoric of Fascist regimes often uses terminology of returning to old values and glory, by irradiating the weak parts of the society. Those values are captured well in the philosophy of Ivan Ilyin, who is very often quoted in Russia in the last years and whose ideas are gaining popularity. The order which is destroyed are hereby the ideas of liberalism, democracy, the elimination of "traitors" and "gnats" (quote Putin) while establishing ideas of unity and Russian power as well as spirituality. Far more interesting is that while the WW2 serves as a propaganda tool, the emphasis is now more and more made on the Russians wining the war, exploring the Russian people, their spirituality as well as heroism. While at the same time they are moving away for the Soviet Union narrative. Only keeping the most important tools of power projection. Additionally we see imperialistic ambitions and aggression towards neighbouring states. I think those things became very apparent in Putins speach on the 24th February, where he was speaking about protection of Russia and that Russia did not have any other choice by sending troops to Ukraine to protect the Russian minorities there. He was telling Russia made everything possible to solve the conflict peacefully but the nazis regime in Kiev and the west were not interested. Same thing Hitler was telling before invading Poland. Protection of German minorities, solving the conflict peacefully etc. etc. Also free media in Russia is not existent. The opposition is crushed and Putin relies on oligarchy. Sanctions and political persecution destroy private businesses and thus potential opposition. More and more is in the power of the state. While obviously such ideology did not came over night, one can not deny that Russia has fascist tendencies. It is becoming worse now, as Russia releases new history books where a lot of history facts are paraphrased or used to represent historical facts in favour of Russia. A lot more emphasis is put nowadays on school propaganda.

Putin realized his 2022 invasion mistake, he decided to abandon the spin-dictator model, switched to model based on fear, comprehensive censorship, and crude repression. .....Sergey Guriyev is a Russian economist, born to an ethnic family in Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia. Guriev left Russia 2013 after a frightening interrogation when government investigators searched his office and secured years of his emails relating to critical economic assessments of Russian position in the Yukos oil company case vs Russian Government
