People dont understand how many kids, mostly 9 and under got killed by cars in the day... You think even then? I was a kid in the 60's and learned how to be careful when crossing any street..different era of course. They didnt get the danger? Even after seeing their friends getting killed? Thinkin the parents would be watching?

Bought one of these at a thrift store and the batteries would not hold a charge. Took it apart and replaced the batteries with three AA rechargeable batteries and its lasted maybe 3-4 years. I use it when wrapping Christmas presents and sometimes when cutting up packaging for volume reduction. Just need to maybe get replacement blades.

I hate the way modern cars look. But, they are so much safer than the beautiful body on frame steel masterpieces we had as kids. Lucky I got to experience living with both types of cars.

You seem to be talking about these pretty light hearted but the truth is most all of these resulted in bloodletting, amputations, maimings and deaths. many old timers of the day refused to ride in them calling them DEATH TRAPS and they were too. These people paved the way for our modern super safe vehicles we enjoy but it was all paid for in blood. lots and lots of blood & dead bodies. !

0:10)This I remember and like. 0:23)A remodeled bus. 0:29)I see enough to like it. Do not remember what German Staat. It is from the state division "U" subdivision "U". My favorite plates come from Fulda. Division "C". Subdivision "K", or FU-CK 6969. 1:04)Strange, but nice. 1:28)I always liked the panel trucks. 1:48)A GM Futurliner? 1:53)The Daimler-Benz bus belongs in a Sci-Fi movie. 2:04)Germany again 2:49)Another GM Futurliner. The driver's seat is forward center. 2 passengers behind. Has a right side stairs to get up there.

By 1929 many expensive imported cars with cross flow porting, overhead camshafts etc., were capable of 100 MPH and more. Most American production cars still used iron side valve engines or very basic OHV engines and in most cases could manage 70 -75 MPH. a lot faster than the 50MPH as stated.

I recall seeing the article in Model railroader magazine years ago that talked in detail about the former Great Northern F unit that you repainted for Kansas City Southern. You had to strip off the Burlington Northern paint first, then 3 underlying Great Northern paint schemes!
