Hello, I want to ask you, when you put the compost in the form of a matrix, do you cover it or leave it naked, and do you monitor the temperature and humidity only? I mean, do you cover the compost or leave it as you saw it in a video

It’s always covered in all parts of the stages . After preparing your recipe , forming your windrows from start to finish. It’s required to have the windrow covered. You have to do a daily temp and CO2 check first thing in the morning and another one later in the day. Must be monitored if windrow isn’t heating up. Or if it’s too hot. Check your recipe if it’s not heating up. Hope this helps.

On the humidity make sure it doesnt have water run off or puddles on the side of the windrow after turning and applying your N-con or humifier. Too much can lead to chucky mud and it could ruin the windrow..

Thank you! I'm a very small home gardener and I am in the process of learning about the best nutrient and microbiome for plants. I am trying to lear how to make excellent quality compost so this is very helpful. John Kempf from AEA pointed me to your humus as being excellent in quality so I'll learn all I can and apply what is possible and my micro scale. Hoping to grow if I can be faithful with my small plot of land.

Static aerated compost will be fungi dominant after standing for a year. They take a long time to breed, and die off easily when the pile is regularly turned. (Keep it moist, aerated, covered, and introduce worms)

Someone just told me extracted compost is far superior to brewed. Could you elaborate? I would think the turbulence of the extractor would harm the microbes. And I don't understand how the microbes go dormant. I assume going dormant would be beneficial to microbial shelf life. Thanks for the video.

Extracted compost is superior to Brewed because the brewing process will benefit some groups and will discourage other groups because of turbulence and nutrition of the medium. Some groups will grow better than the other ones. An extracted compost have more biodiversity.None of the groups have been discouraged or encouraged due to brewing conditions. Secondly, organisms will be dormant in compost and in the recently extracted solution and therefore will have a longer shelf life. The counting of the brewed will start falling down in the minute you stop aerating it. The turbulence of the extractor is nothing compared to the turbulence of some brewer machines. Besides it, this turbulence is just temporary, say for 1/2 hour while turbulence in the brewers will be generally for around 24 hours, i.e. 48 times longer.
