Don't know if you even look at the comments anymore. But your work is a wealth of knowledge. I am trying my hand at composting, and seeing what you and others are doing is a great help. By the way, my pile failed. But i am not giving up.

Your video would be much more useful is you included your location, general weather conditions over the duration of loading to completion of compost and how much rainfall.

So u put the woodchip on the worse soil??? then the woodchips still produce more fruit... think the folage plants were struggling because they didnt have woodchips protecting the soil,

She keeps saying that the goal is to have an alkali soil, but what about plants that like acidic soils? Like blueberries or azeleas? Not really trying to criticize but im just confused and would love a clarification

I’m doing this kinda the lazy way ,dump all the chips into the chicken yard so they do the job. When I need compost I sift it and put it in the garden.

Wonder if BIOCHAR was ever applied to that red clayish soil. Maybe that's what it's lacking.

For the LAB can you just use yogurt whey from home made raw milk or just clabbered milk ( raw milk that sits out for a few days and separates the curd and whey) or does it have to be from the rice water?
@crazyabundance31597 күн бұрын
And does it need to be diluted when applied?

I'm just now getting into the chicken stuff and I can't believe that things like this wasn't already industry standard 20 years ago. I mean moving the chickens everyday seems like a no-brainer in a coup like this.

You know, if you made up a sulky to sit on and get a small self powered rotary tiller to attach to it you'd have a competitive gardening tool. Need to go 9 inches deep minimum and be narrow to fit between rows.

Wow man do you have any scientific resources that can prove which type of sand and organic matter works for double digging and amending? ❤thanks for the options that you have laid on the table!

I made one of these before I knew what they were called. Mine is on ground so no pallet with no air tubes or worms added. 8 months later when I broke into it the middle and bottom two feet were pure black gold and the worms from my yard had easily found it and made it their home. I had some massive 7-9 inch thick earth worms doing their business.

Sunflowers are a great way to build deep soil fertility. After harvesting the heads and reseeding the stems and leaves get chopped for a surface mulch. Several years of this will drastically improve poor soil. This is what I have been doing in silty soils.

Put biochar in your soil, charge it first. I do lasagna layers in tree tubs. Layer 3/4" deep of char, spread a layer of fish, i use button shad or any fish i can get, or chicken manure slurry, or fresh cow manure, just cover the char, then a couple inch deep layer of leaf mold or compost. Repeat till tub is full.. cover with mulch. Next let it age, feed it with fish hydrolysate, and lacto bacillous. I just keep pouring it in at least 1 time per tub each month. Fill my water can and drench it. I use it about 6 months later. It changes, very visibly different. Add food scraps and such as you go, its amazing for soil. When ready pour it out in bed, spread , and work in.

I’m going through a lawn renovation and about two inches down the soil is incredibly dense and so compacted that I had trouble using a shovel to dig into the soil. I want to remove about two more inches of that compacted soil so I can add three inches of a blend of top soil, all-purpose sand, steer/ chicken manure, grass clippings for more organic matter. and nitrogen fertilizer. I have declared war with the dense soil in my lawn. I WILL HAVE A NEW LUSH GREEN LAWN. I WILL HAVE MY NEW LAWN AT ANY COST.
