Hey you know this thing where two lines dont intersect in 2D ? Yeah they do, just in 3D soooo you proved fuck all

So it depends on dimensions and the perspective>?

This is so stupid. Theoretical maths is the reason im not doing a maths degree… Even though i love maths. As soon as they mentioned the rule of polynomials and the words “3d” plane i was like cmon. I was so confused as to how parallel lines can meet bur of course its another perspective thing. Good vid tho, thanks

Parallel lines can't meet. otherwise they aren't parallel at all. Saying they intersect at infinity or at the origin, negative and positive infinity, is equivalent to saying it's not possible for them to meet. Its like being asked if space is infinite, and you answer by; "...well if you can travel to infinity, it is finite." INFINITY IS INFINITY GOOD PEOPLE✌️like counting numbers, no end

My question is: when you were giving the explanation of how a line points to a point in the infinity, and that different lines pointed different inifinities, why would i consider then that the parallel lines will go towards the same infinity.?

It took me a while to figure out they were saying “Bézout’s theorem” (and of course not “Bayes’ theorem”). Bézout is not mentioned in the page on projective geometry, but is in the page on *algebraic* geometry. Don’t ask me the difference between these two geometries, I’m way beyond the limits of my understanding now :D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bézout%27s_theorem

Assume this to be done on computer graphics, rather than with pen and paper then as the degree of line bends with the point on plane extended then ultimately as point reaches infinity the line eventually has no z-axis elevation and the line now exists in 2d plane then how do parallel lines meet? Plz explain

Ok, so, in the projection of the planes (which meet in the origin) associated with the parallel lines, various projected lines (in the projected planes of the parallel lines) will too meet in the origin. But those are the projected lines, not the parallel lines. Parallel lines have a definition that can be applied to any number of dimensions. In 2, 3, or n-dimensional geometries. You have to stick to deductive reason the right way.

What I could see here is just making up a two-sided corner from two planes, each holding a line and these lines are parallel. Does that really mean those two lines DO INTERSECT??

so you are saying that in 3d those parallel lines originate at infinity. which is the z axis? the cant exist in 3d without that intersection at the z axis?

Why do we solve to make LHS = RHS, and end up becoming intelligent fools... You cannot math around different dimensions, while the geometry we talk here is a virtually assumed world, assumptions cannot be based on our comfort but logic. if u start ur math with the assumption of 2 dimensions then u have to stick to it. Fools will take time to understand this
