This is a fantastic video but I do have a question as to why you replaced all the coil packs instead of swapping them and seeing if the cylinder code changed. Thank you for this video.

Scott, I've got a '19 F150 with the Coyote. I know they're not exactly the same as the mustang motor, nor the same as the '15-17 F150. I'm getting a P0307 code. I changed the plug in cylinder 7, and swapped coils and the code stayed with cylinder 7. My next guess was either an injector or it needs a compression test....jury is still out. I didn't even think to consider the intake being a problem, so thank you for that. In the future, if you can get in to Future Ford Fleet in Clovis, they've been super helpful with me. They did a complete transmission overhaul on this truck, and changed injectors on my '18 ecoboost, all under warranty.

Brother....I had the exact same thing...same break location same bank.... I drilled out front of manifold and pushed rod out the back. I put a spot weld where the shaft goes into the ball socket ....slid rod back in and sealed front of manifold....used IMRC lockout kit to lock them open and had a tune from Lund to delete the IMRC controls from the computer altogether....👍

This is a great video.....I went through this on a 2016 GT......I ended up swapping out with a 2018 + intake manifold.....What a difference across the power band.....Did the injectors while the rail was off......This is a really simple fix.....Even if the actuator isn't broke the flaps still need to be cleaned or they will stick on cold starts......Ford should be all over this and recall this problem.....And definitely don't lock the IMRC open unless you're running turbo or charged systems......I'd recommend pulling the manifold after 25000 miles because it's gonna happen!!!!!!

Did you need a tune with the 18+ manifold. I have one as a spare and I believe my stock manifold might have this issue. But I don’t want to swap my stock manifold with my 18+ if I need a tune for the car

Broo thankyou this is most likely my issue. I did plugs, coils, and even swapped out the cylinder 8 injector and the misfire always returned on 8 and 5. This has gotta be it. I bought my s550 as pretty much a lemon and have been chasing down issues for months. This is my last one and hopefully i'll finally have a good car.
@calatan0
@calatan0 Жыл бұрын
This is the best explanation I’ve ever seen. I had the exact same issue. The solution was to replace the manifold. Also found an uncomfortable amount of oil in the manifold. The oems were back ordered so I had to get the gt350 manifold along with some catch cans. After the first oil change the driverside was empty while the passenger side had a bit of oil in it.. these are good fun cars but after owning several new edge cars my personal opinion is “these are not made like the old ones” After 3 months I went to turn at an intersection I thought the trans broke when in fact it was the half axle $$haft$$ Also eventually a few weeks later the transmission did break on me. Fast forward to a week after it being rebuilt I experienced the shifter getting stuck in reverse I would have to rip it out of reverse. Also I noticed gurgling or bubbling noises the car would run only at 20.0/afr under some acceleration and mostly under diminished load(downshifting or bliping) I would notice excessive heat coming from the shifter Now it is hard to get the car in first gear it’ll go straight into reverse won’t allow me to get into 2nd. I have to start in 3rd sometimes it lets me downshift into 2nd but not always. Sometimes I can start in 1st but as this car only being a daily driver I’m not sure I’d recommend. I have a new edge drift car and I never touched the transmission and never experienced a problem redline and bounce off rev limiter like “it’s nothing” this car I can’t say the same as I’ve not pushed this car to the limits. But after reading so many forums and watching videos about the problems 15-17 have I’d give it a 5/10.. I have a pp 2015 less than 60k mi I’ve replaced the half axle shafts, intake manifold and had the transmission rebuilt (due for another rebuild) it’s sad. My best advice for anyone wanting one “don’t” also if you do then do this. Intake manifold if it’s not damaged delete the cmrc whatever it’s called. It will save you a truck load of problems. If you don’t you will have to replace that manifold and if you do be sure to get catch cans so you don’t damage the manifold. Half axle shafts can be a hit or a miss my car had 4 previous owners and I’m sure yours may be fine but any drivetrain part on these cars seems to break (reading other comments on them) Also that transmission. I’d get rid of it asap if not change the fluid to something a bit more on the performance side. I was told 3rd and 4th are the weak components of an mt-82. Get a t56 if you can if you can’t be sure to get something to cool the trans I know the fluid on my car got boiled. T5/t45 I never had a problem. Also 2x tap your traction control to turn it off the tcs seems to work against moving components and limits the travel electronically which makes sense as to why everything wore out so fast for me the 1st time. I’ve been told to turn it off for that very reason.

I just had a McLeod RXT clutch and aluminum flywheel installed and now I'm getting the p0300 random misfires. It sucks spending a lot of $$$ and now I'm getting what seems to be the misfires but the engine isn't actually misfiring from what I can tell there's no difference in engine noise or power. I'm at a loss if anyone knows anything I'd love some answers. I'm considering getting new flywheel heavier or both. Btw I've done the crank position sensor relearn.

Here's some fun for you. I have a 2019 Mustang GT. About four months ago, I noticed the odd idle behavior, and it would occasionally stall at start up, but it wasn't throwing a code. Ran diagnostics. Nothing. Checked all fuses. Nothing. So erring on the side of caution, I changed the spark plugs, air filter, and ran fuel injector cleaner through it. Didn't help. Still no codes. Performance was great though. It finally popped a misfire code on cylinder 2 last week right before an HPDE event, so I changed the coil. At the event, multiple codes occurred. Since I had reached the limits of the me-fix-it, and I was at 57K miles, I took it to the dealership. First thing, these %$#@ tried to tell me it was because of the aftermarket, better than Motorcraft spark plugs. No. Nice try. We fought about it. They agreed to replace the manifold, because I knew and they do too, that the S550 has issues with the manifold and misfires, especially at low RPMs. They tell me it didn't fix it (I'm two hours away right now), and they have to look for other issues now, but they need to replace the spark plugs because it's part of the SOP to go further. Fine. I know it isn't the spark plugs. They call today and tell me the car is fixed. I'm suspicious. This dealership has been shady af from the start. The manifold likely fixed the issue. They just want to be right. I love my Mustang. It is a beast. But never again will I buy a Ford, mostly because of their service departments.

Next time before you spend all that money on coils you could reach out to me I could tell you how to test every coil in the rarity of all the coils failing causing new misfires is super super rare good find on the manifold a lot of the old manifold used to also get carbon up and they would stick halfway and they would cause random misfires carbon buildup on the runners and stick the butterflies what it is it’s trying to make a single plane manifold and a dual plane manifold in one unit. I’ve been a Mastertech 27 years and there’s so many people at the dealerships working these days don’t even have a clue what they’re doing you’re exactly correct

I'm almost positive I have the same issue. I have a 17 gtp. I want to swap out the 17 intake for the 18 that gives a small boost of HP. I'm thinking of removing all the IMRC crap from the back of the new intake and locking the flaps open. Long story short and here is the million dollar question ---- will I need to a tune OR will the car throw a CEL with out the IMRC crap hooked up? I will zip tie all the loose connectors tight to the wiring loom so they wont rattle - but because they won't be plugged in anywhere, will it throw a CEL?
