Sorry Chagosiens, this outcome was inevitable,the dream of living on a tropical paradise and expecting to be fed by the rest of the world had to come to an end. Anyone looking at this situation with uneducated eyes would certainly think that you were hard done by, but Chagos was never a property of the independent Mauritius and Chagosiens were only there to work the coconut plantations.Well it was time to move , you were compensated for it.

Diego Garcia is a reminder of what happens when the powerful arrogantly walk all over the rights of the defenceless. To displace a people as happened here is simply unforgivable. Naturally the US and UK would argue it was done for the greater good of the Western World. Not good enough.

Stop focussing on Mauritius and try to develop Diego??? Do both at the same time??? Then Mauritian economy will suffer...funny thing though..the guy who mentioned 'fucking american enjoying our land' and others will not even step their foot on Diego to go and do some development there...people just moan but won't do anything about it....thats all ive got to say..we are all different and think differently....but facts are facts!!!
@SANJEEVKOKIL12 жыл бұрын
At this time, Mauritius relies on sugar, textile, tourism etc which are not enough to raise the standard and now think what Diego have as resources to stand out from scratch???? U know how many people from Diego are living peacefully in the UK with a British citizenship and they are happy!!!! On the contrary mauritian people are complaining abt it and want Diego back...I do wonder even if Diego is handed back to the Mauritian government, what will they do????

Hi San Kokil just read your post. Just want to clarify that we are still struggling here in the UK, there is more stress than you think here. Why you think we are still protesting. Not everything is as good as gold.
@SANJEEVKOKIL12 жыл бұрын
secondly don't u think that in case of any probs, mauritius will be supported and protected by both the UK and USA troops to remain safe??? Thirdly, Mauritius itself is not 100% fully developed despite the intervention of foreign investors to boost the economy!!! So even we get Diego back right now, what further development can be solely done through the Government in a specific timeframe??? Tough
@SANJEEVKOKIL12 жыл бұрын
Yo peeps, you all need to realise that we are in 2012 and whats the current economic situation in mauritius yeah..Brits rented Diego from the government to allocate it to the USA to be used as a military base...now do u guys know how much mauritius earn from it to pump it in the country???

I've always supported these people as I've been the witnessed of their situation in Mauritius and sorry to say that they faced loads of problems to achieve their aim But it's the british who rent this land to the american so the british are also to blame here not only the americans
