Will the inreach and the iridium work in the Amazon jungle and in Caribbean countries in the jungle?

I see you hiked it for 25 days. Did you take zeroes? Roughly how many miles a day did you average? Did you resupply south of Muir Ranch? Thanks -- enjoyed the video.

Thank you for making and sharing this video. It has been very helpful. I am planning on doing this loop (clockwise) in a couple months. Do you recommend staying Bubbs Creek or Vidette Meadow at the end of my trip?
@outdooradventurefilms14363 ай бұрын
I stayed at Bubbs Creek when I did this loop and at Vidette Meadow when I did the JMT. I think Vidette Meadow wins for me. It has a lot of flat area to camp near the creak. It has a bear box if you need it. You might go slightly out of the way for those sights when doing the loop, but it's a nice area.

I did South to North lakes many years ago. It is one of the best "short" hikes available. Made side trips to Blaney meadows, and toward Hell-for-sure pass. Whet my appetite enough that I did the JMT the next year.

I just finished this loop last week. Mega kudos guys. Great video and commentaries. The one ranger I talked to about the bridge that has been removed from over the lower San Joaquin River said that the replacement is planned but the date is uncertain. I'll do this loop again and hopefully the bridge will be replaced (next year????). Keep on trucking!

Thank you so much for filming this absolutely breathtaking video of your journey on the JMT. The scenery was just incredible, and your photography was brilliant, absolutely wonderful. I love water, and there are very few videos that show the amount of stunning waterfalls and rivers that yours has. Thank you so much! I've started this comment so many times because your video literally took my breath away and I wanted you to know how much it has meant to me. Disabled and from the UK I will never see the JMT myself, so thank you for filming the beauty of the trail as wonderfully as you have!

Sorry for the late reply. I have been busy with work lately and don't get on KZbin much these days. Your comment means a lot to me. I originally planned to make this video for my family, but I am so happy I shared it on KZbin now. I'm so glad that it has had a positive impact on you and others. Your comment captures a main reason I made this video, to share the beauty of the outdoors with others that could not be there with me; initially my family, but now so happy to include others. If you have not already seen it, the other video that is most similar to this one is The Mineral King Loop, A Backpacking Documentary. I did that one with my family in 2021. And, you are the first on KZbin to hear, I am close to posting my hike from last year on the North Lake South Lake Loop with two of my best friends. That loop covers part of the JMT. I am making that video similar in style to my JMT video. Thanks for watching and take care! Scott

@outdooradventurefilms14362 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry for the late reply. When I have a lot of weight in mine, it squeaks. As the weight goes down throughout my trip, it stops squeaking. I have fit my bigger, heavier sleeping back in it, but it makes it tight. My Kelty Cosmic Down 20 degree bag fits easily with room to spare. I hope this helps.

I have used a sat phone, Spot gen 2 and the (pre-Garmin) DeLorme InReach SE. My fave is the InReach, due to the 2-way messenging, sending coordinates with your message, affordabiity (compared to the newer Garmin InReach- $$$.) The older SPOTs don't have 2-way, but I'm sure the new one is very similar in performance to the InReach.
@outdooradventurefilms14362 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. I'm actually running a little behind and need to do a new review. I'm actually using the Zoleo now. It has the two-way messaging and can connect to your phone by Bluetooth for texting just like the InReach. I think it has similar function to the InReach mini. It does not have mapping or anything, but is a great two-way communicator for less money than the InReach. I'm very happy with it.

IMO, one way communication is not communication at all. If you are in trouble, you NEED to know if your SOS/URGENT message was received because knowing this affects your decision-making in the wild.

OMG you are the first person I've ever heard say the bear can goes on every trip with you. I do the same - I've worked my food "truth" down to mostly using the BV450 - I can get 6 nights in there with only minor cheating (whisky/wine first nights trash) I love my bear cans, I can take crackers in lieu of heavy dry tortillas and they never break.

Yes, I just don't like to chance it with bears. But also other critters. Last thing I want to do is keep the food in my tent and have a mouse or marmot chew through my tent. Thanks for watching, Neda!

One of the most beautiful videos I've watched. I am not talking about the scenery but your family. I cannot believe how your little girl could be so cheerful throughout the trip as I know that it's a hard trail. Thank you so much for your comment. Sorry, I hadn't checked comments in a while, but this one means a lot to me because this film is very special to me. Hiking is a passion, but family is my true love. To combine them was awesome! While hiking up the "Torture Trail," I remember thinking that hiking down would be quite a chore too and more likely for a slip and fall. Great job hiking down it! Thank you so much for watching!

@outdooradventurefilms14362 жыл бұрын
Hi Hendrick. Are you talking about the string/rope on the outside? If so, all I did was take the thin rope/string from my old pack (put you can get the same stuff at Home Depot or Lowes (probably any hardware store). The Rook has loops that it can weave through. It works great for hanging wet clothes. I also kept my bandana hung from it, which I used as a towel. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

@@outdooradventurefilms1436 awesome thank you, ive just purchased myself a rook 65, love that it is inbetween an ultralight and and traditional pack. was thinking of putting an elastic mesh on the front joined onto the loops to function as another pocket. all the best for 2022 from new zealand :)

Nicely done. Looked like a great time with the family. Those passes were no joke. Your girls should be proud of themselves. My favorite part: "So many flowers... What does it smell like girls?" (in perfect unison) "Flowers". ha ha.
@outdooradventurefilms14362 жыл бұрын
Yes, the flower question was kind of stupid, huh? :). But I also thought the response was funny, so it was worth leaving in there. And yes, I've told the girls many times how proud they should be. Those were the hardest passes I've ever done...at least Sawtooth was. Thanks for watching!
