This is very similar to Streisand being cast in Funny Girl. Even Sondheim couldn't stand B.S. when seeing her act at the Bon Soir. But Jule Styne, he saw her and he was her champion. Imagine? Arthur Laurents also, they all had to convince David Merrick. What an ear Styne had. He knew. And still to this day, nobody performed the songs better onstage OR in the movie better than Babs did. So u see, even though Liza had the name (not yet on her own but only by association), she still had to work her own way up. In fact, not many people from 1965 all the way to 1972/73 knew of Liza's work. She still was pounding the pavement.

We are surprised that Dump and his followers have not adapted this as their anthem along with the wearing and waving of the insignia--unveiled slogan of "MAGA", if any doubts! Ironically, so many of the followers of his beliefs are of the prosecuted class at that time, from religious, sexual and even the color of skin! The absurdity of it all--one can't make this up!

I think this old guy is doubting the abilities of the American public. It was VERY clear whenever alfred made a gay character… like it’s been talked about for how many decades, there is literally DOCUMENTARIES ABOUT HIS GAY CHARACTERs!!! “Europe got it?” No tf it didn’t they would murder gay men left and right off buildings public assassinations. Like. This old fck doesn’t have any sense of reality or how the modern human thinks and absorbs information. Every fcking btch knows what gay is and isn’t

A writing professor of mine in college said only Neil Simon can go into a closet and come out with a play 24 hours later. Well this proves Neil spent months and months perfecting his stories. Like the rest of us!

Barbra was cast long before Kanin came into the picture. And according to Barbra and others he was a lousy director and ended up being replaced by Jerome Robbins who improved the show immensley.

They’re talking about Bells Are Ringing, a musical romantic comedy written for their dear friend Judy Holliday. It’s a warm, very tuneful and funny show that’s easy to enjoy.

No - Miller was likely referring to the original 1949 stage production on Broadway, perhaps even earlier readings or productions because in 1949 he would’ve been 38 or so

I saw the first performance of Holy Ghosts at ECU in 1971. And, I first met Romulus in 1987 at the VCCA. Many years later in 2009, I wrote an opera based on this play, Holy Ghosts. Knowing Romulus was one of the highlights of my personal and professional life. There was no one else like him. He was the real thing.

I've known a few kids who had lots of experiences and thoughts! However, lack of ability to wax nostalgic about how they were affected and shaped by their lives makes them less relatable, I suppose. After all, experience is subjective and changes as we age and view it from a new perspective. It is that which makes us wise, and hopefully, interesting!

It's nice I used to role play, make my mother be Arthur Miller, in conversation in 1969. It was only a name to me - I was a young 11 - but my parents might have appreciated me less by then.

CBS delayed it 2 years. It was supposed to debut Fall 1982, but CBS aired the new sitcom "Filthy Rich" instead (which was Linda Bloodworth-Thompson's 1st created sitcom. It was a pre-Designing Woman that mocked Dynasty).

Robin diangelo strikes me as a 21st century abigail williams, the same painful question begging and tautology to her logic, the same shifting of the burden of proof, the same unctuous , self righteousness in accusing others.
