Great yard! How are you keeping pests away? Im in sav too
@LitusTheGod2 жыл бұрын
Hi Erin. It depends on the pest. I was wondering what was eating my figs recently (even the green ones) and it turns out it was mice. They were coming from my neighbor who isn't doing any upkeep of his back yard. I sprinkled some MoleMax (castor oil) granules to keep them away. I also use fake snakes in my trees and that keeps the squirrels and birds away. I did a couple posts in the "Savannah Backyard Gardeners" facebook group with pics of the snakes. It works.

This is just incredible! Do you know what kind of avocado you are growing? Has it produced yet? I would LOVE to get one to grow here in midtown! ♥️

Megan, I think it's just a regular Hass. It had a small seed and the person that gave it to me said they bought it from the store. It's gonna be tough to get any fruit from it. It gets freeze burn every year, then grows back bigger each time.

@@maegn I should do a new video. Right now, all of the citrus tress are loaded with ripe fruit. I can barely keep up with eating them, so neighbors are getting to enjoy them too.

Where did you buy the guaba plant?
@LitusTheGod3 жыл бұрын
From fast growing trees. They said it was a ruby guava, but it has been bearing white guavas for over 4 years.

I believe that some clarification is in order. First of all, this argument was not originally regarding the healthcare reform debate. Before the camera was on us, I simply asked Mr. Martin how he could sing the praises of Dr. Martin Luther King (as he had done earlier during the townhall meeting) but show support for President Obama, who has pushed for policies that are antithetical to what Dr. King and many others fought for. Not having a justification for his hypocrisy, he skillfully diverted the conversation to healthcare (a subject I admittedly knew little about and was not prepared to discuss when I approached him). Secondly, it was not my intention to hold up anyone's opportunity to have their books signed by Mr. Martin, I wanted to ask my questions during the actual townhall meeting, but I was not allowed to do so by the organization that hosted Mr. Martin for reasons I did not understand, giving the fact that I was one of the first to submit my name for a question. Thirdly, I felt that, during the hour that Mr. Martin was taking questions, he offered very little substance to the discussion of solving problems that we have here in Savannah. In fact, at some points he became condescending toward members of the audience. For $10 per ticket, he suggested very simplistic (dare I say, silly) answers to the legitimate questions that the community had. During a subsequent arguement on Twitter, I called Mr. Martin a media prostitute and a Obama groupie. These words may be harsh, but they were more than appropriate given Mr. Martin's questionable loyalty to really confronting the issues that plague our community as a journalist. During the meeting, Mr. Martin purposefully let the conversation away from any mention of structural/ institutional racism and classicism. It is no secret why he did this. He is paid by the very people who benefit from institutional racism and classicism, so he wouldn't dare say anything that would indicate that his masters are part of the problem. Let me be clear, regardless of any superficial or symbolic gestures Mr. Martin may make toward the Black community, he has divided loyalties and should not be trusted. Mr. Martin belongs to a petit bourgeois of Black professionals who see their own personal financial advancement as an advancement for the race. They are extremely egotistical, becoming indignant when someone dares not to say something worshipful to them (as you see in the video). Lastly, when Mr. Martin finished taking questions, a smug look of accomplishment appeared on his face and he stated to the audience that he was going to post on his Twitter account that he had just finished a townhall meeting in Savannah and he "slayed" us. "Slayed" us? What did he mean by that? He didn't see us as anything other than a conquest to feed his over inflated ego. To anyone from Savannah, Georgia who may have attended the townhall meeting, or who might see this video: Mr. Martin came here, he hustled us out of our hard earned money and left us with very little to show for it. He has gone on to other communities to do the same thing. We are still here. He will go to his comfortable upper middle class home and look down his nose on people like us. We are still here. He will be on television kissing the ass of corrupt political and corporate rulers of this world. And we are still here. We face the problems here every day. Let us come together to find grassroots, anti-racist, anti-corporate methods of making Savannah better for generations yet to come.
