The newish technique in the NHL of turning your back to basically negate the legality of a hit is crazy. Obviously Murphy turned back because he forgot the puck there but I think the mentality has changed and people don't protect themselves as much as they expect the rules to protect them now.

This is the reason I want to see Ref calling players that turn there back on a player coming towards them. This is what happens. I have seen too many plays in the NHL in the last 5 years that players turn when they see someone coming towards them to force a penalty because they believe they will not get hurt. I know this is not the situation here but we you do in practice. It become nature to do it all the time even when you don't want to. they really need to get back to what Mike Bossy did when players where near the board and he explained that you always need to protect yourself.
