I'm 44 now. I remember my mom teaching me this song when I was little. But the lyrics went like this... Aww G daddy take us to the drive-in Come on papa don't say that you're broke There's peanuts popcorn cracker,-jacks, potato chips, lemon drops and lollipops and ice cold Coke. Remember the girl by the candy machine? You told her she look like a beauty queen I wonder what mama would say about that. You better put down that paper, papa pick up your hat We can't go with mama. Cause it's kiss kiss kiss, Mush mush mush and a heavenly bliss We want to watch the good guys and the bad guys fight, so please. Won't you take us to the driving tonight?) Am I the only one that learned like this?.

She is completely underrated as an international pianist. Her tone and artistic personality are incomparable. She recently retired. Sadly, I never got to hear her live...
@elsaesteves Жыл бұрын
She's not retired 😳 her concerts to South America were canceled last month because she does too much travelling. She was recently in the US ,Japan, and I think S. Korea. She did not have any vacation so her doctor told her to cancel her tour to S. America. Either than that she will perform in Europe as usual.

wonderful, as usual! i'd love to hear a recording (if one exists?) of margaret playing ravel's gaspard de la nuit; i've listened to many performers since she played it, and not one comes close to her brilliance! i can still hear all her nuances in my head.

Does anyone have a song by Jeremy Taylor about a "Meter Collector"? Lyrics include ... " Stuck a little pink ticket on its backside. ... Said 'Meter Expired' " Might have been the flip side of "Ag Pleeze Daddy" because i had that :) ... I was actually living in Durban at the time and we Did go to the Drive-In ... Saw Elvis in 'Blue Lagoon' :) Went to the Underberg Boarding School

Merveilleuse Maria !!! Magnifique. Merci Madame Pires. GP

bravo maria joao.... keep playing, please.... always.. “To be great, be whole; Exclude nothing, exaggerate nothing that is not you. Be whole in everything. Put all you are Into the smallest thing you do. So, in each lake, the moon shines with splendor Because it blooms up above.” ― Fernando Pessoa. Para ser grande, sê inteiro: nada Teu exagera ou exclui. Sê todo em cada coisa. Põe quanto és No mínimo que fazes. Appartite times. Thank goodness, all changed for the better now, except my African friend he can't get a job! Please no excuses, its been 25 years. Juma and his cronies are well off. Just like Zim, Boss Robert had all the cash. Never mind, China is taking over, and as a Communist regime all will have jobs and have wealth.

A brilliant superhuman achievement from genius lady MJPires, cannot be described in words. No matter who made the mistake before, the conductor should have stopped, very vanity and absolutely unprofessional to put someone in a live performance under such an unimaginable psychological pressure for more than half an hour. She once said in an interview it was 10 months ago that she played it for the last time, incredible. I would have loved to see the conductor's face if she had started at the concert in the evening with Beethoven nr.4 “Oh, you´ll do that, we´ve had it before, come on...”
@JohnSmith-oe5kx4 жыл бұрын
As it turned out, the conductor did the right thing. If Ms. Pires really felt that she could not proceed, nobody can force her.

Maria Joao Pires is very competent. In my opinion, the Orchestra's direction and conductor acted with total disrespect acted with total disrespect for art.
@JohnSmith-oe5kx4 жыл бұрын
I think that the conductor had great respect for Ms. Pires, and more faith in her abilities than she did herself in that moment of panic.
