The problem is the crowd. They are mostly old. Nothing wrong with that l am 76. It’s just not enough new people coming to tracks. Really nice track though it’s a shame they are closing.

I barely wagered on Freehold. It had small pools. My original wagering place to bet didn't offer Freehold or any of the other harness tracks. Only Northfield, Meadowlands and Woodbine we get to wager. I wish we had the option to wager on these other tracks. Thanks for recording a historical moment.

Sad day for Freehold, but how many great memories over 100 plus years, nothing is forever, lets cherish the moments, cheers to Freehold.

AWW what a shame. REMEMBER those days when Herve screwed you out of the double? Never met a race where he couldn't finish second. Harness racing is dead because people are sick of seeing $5 exactas and knowing that half the drives aren't trying in any given race. A slot machine or the craps table has no human nefarious element, hence people don't feel they're getting a raw deal by some trainer or driver who are setting up their horse for a better price a couple of weeks later. Good riddance to an extremely corrupt game.

This is another thing the Trumpist elite oligarchs want, they want people in casinos where its cheaper for people to lose their money. In racing you have drivers, jockeys, trainers, grooms, backstretch people, owners. The money goes to a lot of different people. It doesnt get funneled to one big guy.

#3 will improve with time and distance

Freehold was available for Canadians to bet it for many years..BUT NOT ONCE did Freehold nor Ontario's Racing body nor Woodbine Entertainment ever let us play Freehold for 10 cents or 20 cents or 50cents, the tris the supers the win 4s the pk 5s, like we played at other U.S. tracks. So stupid. NEVER offered us a chance to play like every American was allowed to. And probably the #1 reason Canadians stayed the hell away from Freehold support and used our many OTBs to wager on other competing shows. Oh well. Too bad. Another legend bites the dust.

Thanks for showing and posting the final race from Freehold. I am from the Philadelphia area and only got up to Freehold a few times. It was a nice smaller racetrack. Unfortunately harness racing has lost interest from most people over the years less people came and betting went down. It got to the point where Freehold only ran two days a week and not enough business was able to support keeping the track open. Today people seem to prefer lotteries, casino and sports betting instead of horse racing. Unless the industry can find a way to get more interest more tracks will most likely find the same fate as Freehold.

What memories.I won the derby with Unbridled on simulcast at freehold because then there were different odds at different tracks ,we raced to freehold from meadowlands to bet him because of the odds.We loved Freehold
