Thanks this video was very helpful. just a quick question. if there is an option in Flood Modeller to do the 2D and Linked 1D/2D modellings then why some engineers use MapInfo to do the Linked 1D/2D? do we really need MapInfo when Flood Modeller is able to do that modelling for us?
@Floodmodeller2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Flood Modeller allows you to undertake 2D-only modelling as well as integrated 1D/2D modelling. It also allows you to model surface and sub-surface flows. With Flood Modeller, you have access to a GIS interface, so no need for MapInfo at all.

Hi,please why thé 1d model il poor at flood routes in urban Areas can you more explain that please?
@Floodmodeller2 жыл бұрын
Our 1D river model doesn't show flow paths on the floodplain, therefore you would need to use one of our 2D solvers to represent this, so that you can accurately understand which direction the flow travels and it moves between building, along roads, etc.

When pulling in a background map, is it possible to scale it? The scale of my background image does not match the scaling in Flood Modeller.
@Floodmodeller3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, background mapping is not actually used for any of the calculations, and so resizing this file outside of Flood Modeller may be the best approach. However, please feel free to contact [email protected] and the team will be happy to look into your particular map file in further detail and offer suggestions.

Dr. Wicks, thank you so much for the presentation. It definitely made me more knowledgeable on 2D modeling. However, I am wondering, how does a 1D model have advantages over 2D model at bridges/weirs and other structures. Isn't a 2D model better given that it calculates hydraulic parameters at each cell?
@Floodmodeller7 жыл бұрын
Hi Subhash - thank you for your message - please submit your question on the forums on www.floodmodeller.com or email [email protected] for further information.
@kirank_j5 жыл бұрын
Subhash usually bridges will be modelled in 1D as it is will be difficult or not possible in to model in 2D. In a river reach, water flows through the opening and when water level rises above the soffit level water pass above the bridge (road). It will be difficut to model the Water flowing through the bridge and above the bridge in 2D.
