I remember these days , jaffa cake livery 4 ceps, newly refurbished too. I got a cab on one of the last Hastings units up to charing Cross and back in about April 1985 ish just b4 electrification . I live in Hastings now and use this line often . Now electrostars 375 s .-bud the painter-

When visitors used to get lost in Ashford's one way system! I moved away in 1993, so a few things are different from "my" Ashford, but still lots of memories.

Really interesting to see the channel tunnel construction works and the development of what was to become Dollands Moor freight yard. This line has seen so many changes in the last 30 to 35 years. One thing I do notice is how weed free the trackbed is. The services along this line certainly run more efficiently - but I remain nostalgic for slam doors and the archaic nature of those times.

Interesting announcements. I didn't realise that the Ashford - Hastings service continued to and terminated at St Leonards Warrior Square and the London Bridge terminating service was unusual as well. Also would have expected the Dover portion of the train that was being divided to continue to Sandwich rather than terminate at Dover Priory. The term 'Network Express' presumably indicates that these announcements were recorded in Network South East days.
