Hello Mr Martin, we met several years ago when you kindly drove the royal train for us as we stewed our Mother's ashes on the railway in 2016. I can't remember the name of the corner where you stopped the train where we put her ashes, hopefully near Dad's ashes. . My mother's name was Iris Sly and my Dad passed away before her. His name was Bill Sly and together they manned the shop one day a week at Dymchurch. When my father passed away my Mum bought a wooden seat to be on the platform at Dymchurch. It was in 2006. Some of my family are coming on the railway tomorrow 29th July, and I wondered if you remembered the ?? corner where both of their ashes are. I know it is a lot to ask but I thought it was worth trying. We try to keep our parents memories alive, the RH&D railway was a special part of their lives. It is special in our memories too. Just in case, my phone number is 01787 312450. Thank you very much Sandie Turner.

Good evening, some single track museum railways in the United Kingdom are still operated with staff or token blocks although all their stations are equipped not only with home signals but also with departure signals (generally "railway semaphore signals" with arms positioned at 45º in the dial lower or in the upper quadrant to communicate to the driver that the way is clear). It is therefore not clear to me the need to have a staff or token block in the presence of starting signals. In other words, the signals that authorize the sending of trains in the opposite direction along the single track section could not be interconnected with each other in order to avoid head-on collisions as well as pile-ups as happens on double-track lines equipped with "Absolute block" ? If I remember correctly, the intermediate railway stations of the lines operated with the "Radio Electronic Token Block" do not have departure signals, except the "Stop Board". Grateful for the attention given to me, I would like to take this opportunity to extend cordial and sincere regards

So true about train travel being calming. I had a heart attack 10 years ago and had massive anxiety afterwards. I have an exceptionally clear memory a year or so after the event, on a train from Leeds to London where for the first time since the heart attack I felt calm and happy. It was the catalyst that kicked off an eventual recovery from anxiety. To this day I still take 'pointless' train journeys whe I feel the need to feel grounded. I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

Great to see Geoff and Tim making a video together at one of the best railways in the World! Where else can you ride a little steam train next to a nuclear power station?! Some interesting aspects covered here about what all railway enthusiasts have been through at some time or another.

Snodland! Love a local shout out, I met Geoff a few weeks ago and heard that story, that made by day, and made it again hearing it in this video :D The railways mean the world to me, my life wouldn't be the same without them, and the RHDR was instrumental in that in my early childhood when my grandparents would bring me. When things get tough, there are always trains; mainline, modern, miniature, model, steam, simulated, scenic, spectacular! Just keep playing trains!

This is a very moving video with regards to what both Geoff & Tim pointing out about mental well-being and the roles that railways can bring. As someone who understands fully what they’re saying, going through the same angsts every so often. This has been a lovely, lovely video. Great to see my mate Alan hogging the limelight again 😂
